Triple A and when did they get so very terrible?

I have never used AAA but have road side assistance through State Farm, it runs about $24.00 per year per vehicle if you choose the option. Would this be an option to AAA? I have no idea how much AAA runs a year.

What are the limitations as far as number of service calls, distance, vehicles?

The distance is kinda short, like 25 miles before you start paying mileage. I was a few miles past the limit when the fuel pump went out on my truck and I ended up paying like $14.

No annual limit on covered vehicles if my memory serves me correctly, I have had it for over 40 years on various vehicles and motorcycles. They have always been prompt on response times.

Dude - We need to wheel.

Given everything I experienced, I don't think they care one tiny bit. At no point can a company fail so miserably at the one thing they are supposed to be good at and still care, that is just not a reasonable conclusion. They do emergency roadside assistance. Exactly zero about what they did says they understand any of that and it does not matter one bit if they don't.

The others in here with very similar experiences show that this is not an isolated incident.

The rates AAA pays the tow companies may be so low tow companies have dropped them or put you on the back burner.

Dude - We need to wheel.

I would love to go sometime but I am currently 30 days in recovery on L3,L4 and L5 spinal decompression with fusion surgery and not sure when I will be able to go, my goal right now is to be able to drive to the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in June and set up my camper. My buddies said I wasn't much help last year. I put the surgery off for nearly two years but finally had to try for some relief.

Just asked the question - what does a third party website have to do with this? Maybe I should complain about AAA on a Jeep forum - it would make about as much sense.

We are in off topic, so it doesn't have to make sense.

You could have asked the question exactly like you are asking here. Instead you chose to do the usual thing you do.

We get it and I'm sure many here feel similar to you about social media and about too much tech in everything these days. But you don't see people making that point in every single thread. You do. Someone hit you, they must have been texting on a smartphone. Facesuck. TWITter. Almost every single thread your participate you just repeat your disdain for this stuff. So no, it was not "I just asked a simple question". It's just tiring to read this same stuff from you over and over and over.

It's as annoying like listening to those people that have to advertise non-stop that they do CrossFit or that they are vegan/vegetarian in every conversation. Do whatever you want, follow whatever you like, live your life to your choices, it's absolutely all good. Share your experiences and thoughts and I would love to read, converse, debate, learn. But no need to keep drumming about something constantly. It just becomes noise after a point and people will simply stop listening.

I've had AAA since back when it was just Double A, LOL. They were great in CA for the aforementioned DMV-related reasons, plus I have gotten their "come out and give me a jump" service when I had a dead battery. In just shy of 1MM miles of driving, I've never had so much as a door ding, so never had to file a claim. Still have AAA since we moved back to NC, but I have Progressive for my RV...
Honest question: If not AAA, who is better I wanna know? Like anything, it's more fun to bag & bitch - how 'bout a solution or three?

I wouldn't mind an alternate. In the time we have been members, I've used them a total of about 5-6 times. Each has been very satisfactory until this last one which was terrible by anyone's standards.

Let's both hope that was just an isolated incident. Meanwhile, MY advice is to drink heavily...

"Better listen to him, Flounder - he's in Pre-Med..."

I was gonna ask if I was annoying you? :ROFLMAO:

I'm all ears about this as well. Good Sam used to make a BFD about how they were better, but I don't know how true that is or was. I had to call them when the MBZ was sideswiped last March - I finally gave up after 3 hours.

The service industry in general has devolved to the point where they think disappointment is acceptable.

Had AAA for years & any time we called they would never actually come. They left my wife stranded in the grass median on route 87 when she had been run off the road. That was it, canceled it.
Also years ago I had their auto insurance & they called to tell me they couldn't honor the quoted rate a few weeks later. Canceled that too.

Wow.. never had that experience. Maybe the availability of transports is greater in NE metro areas than elsewhere.

I've had pretty good experience the few times I've needed them.

I dumped AAA years ago after they weren't able to help in a snow "storm" (this was in NC, hence the quotations). My XJ (RIP) decided the crank position sensor wanted to crap out on the highway right as the snow started. I called AAA and they just said "sorry, we don't have anyone nearby to help". Luckily after 20 minutes the XJ fired back up and I got home. That was the second time AAA screwed me so I dumped them and haven't looked back. I still get their junk mail.

Roadside assistance through insurance is typically a better value anyway. One nice thing about AAA was the discounts at random places though.

Has anyone else used Good Sam for RV towing? Wondering if it is better or basically the same as AAA.
