Was this a snowier than normal year for you, Mac?

Yup...but I've been saying that pretty much every year for a while now.

Not arguing about wheeling in 3' of snow 20 minutes from home and no snow at home.

This particular snow was wet, dense and heavy...I got the air pressure down to 12... probably should have done 6 to 8 and I'd like to try traction boards to get me out of my own holes. Less weight helps too.

I drive for a living and drove my Jeep for 6 hours in 3' of snow, stop and go. Not fun after the first hour. No backup either.

I will say replacing my ProComp allegedly 4" springs with Curries got me another 2" of belly clearance and that was a huge improvement...makes me want a UCF flat belly skid.

He's dragging his feet on cleaning the oil pan mating surfaces

I don't blame him. Cleaning those can be difficult, but it can also be easy. If you have access to an electric or air die grinder, get some of these - it'll change your boy's attitude:

You'll also need a mount:

Although knock-offs are prevalent, I stick to the genuine 3M versions, so I can't speak to the quality of anything but 3M stuff. Whenever you use them, mind the dust - it's very abrasive (those plastic bristles have abrasive impregnated into them), and you don't want it inside your engine. Also, they come in three grits: coarsest is green, mid is yellow, and finest is white. The green works fine on steel and cast iron, but if you use it on aluminum, be very careful, as it will remove aluminum if you're not paying attention. For aluminum the white version is much more forgiving, but still possible to damage the gasket surface if you're ham-fisted about it.

You can literally get the pan's gasket surface shiny-clean in under five minutes with those Roloc Bristle Discs!

Turns out a wet scotch brite pad is just what the cleaner ordered!!!

continued work on an expensive and stupid cosmetic change. It is ridiculous how long it takes to get odd nuts and bolts when you live in the middle of nowhere. Anyway, pulled the shark tower off my old pioneer platform, and since I finally got both M8 bolts and unistrut nuts in today - started to adapt it to the new platform.

In the end, my platform will be 1" shorter, 7" wider, and have a KC gravity light attached (one light wider than the old rack would allow). Hoping the decreased hight and increased width will make my LJ look less tall and anorexic. (Yep, stupid cosmetic change). Given I have about 7" of stuff on the platform - hard to tell if I will even notice the difference.

Meanwhile, scheduled a shop visit last Friday - misfiring on cylinder 3 again. Once the rain lets up enough, still need to strip the interior and put in sound and heat insulation. But in theory at least - everything accept the misfiring is waiting on me now (I think I have all the parts in finally - or at least should have them all in tomorrow-2 bags of unistrut nuts did not show up today).

Oh, hell (maybe). I ordered 3 packages of unistrut nuts. One came in today, one should be here Friday, The last one is marked shipped (from a US Amazon center), with a May 2 delivery date. I hope that is a wrong
