What did you do to your TJ today?

Found a nice spot for my lunch break today, and then also saw this Comanche at work. Love the look of it.

Well I screwed up something.
Front left caliper has been sticking so I finally got new calipers.
Replaced them and now I can not get the brakes to become unspongy. Foot goes to the floor.
After 30 mins of bleeding had to call it a night. Will call my brother in law tomorrow to come by and assist.
Not sure what I am doing wrong. I am no mechanic but have done these before and have always gone very smoothly.

You'll find that @mrblaine is our resident brake expert. So searching for guidance he's given on this forum will be your best place to start.

Take a look at this approach from him:

Put the bleeders up on top, works more better.

are the calipers on the wrong side? Looks like the bleeder is at the bottom on the second pic.

Apologies, I was in a hurry last night having spent too much time on the phone and failed to mention that the good news is the pads are also upside down so you can swap the caliper side for side and not have to swap pads out. Notch goes on the bottom, caliper rotates forward at the top.

Really wow not sure how I missed that. I will back in the garage later this afternoon and will swap them. I truly did not feel like I put them in upside down.

Well, not for nothing but the first clue there is an issue is when the system won't bleed in a few pedal pumps per corner. If it won't come up in short order, just stop and find the problem because bleeding it more won't fix the issue. That just wastes time and brake fluid.

We've all put them on upside down. I know better and I've still looked at them to check and somehow convinced myself they were correct when I fully knew they were NOT. The best way for me is to just reach out and put a finger on the bleeder and use that to tell me when I'm being dumb.

The bolt holes under the passenger tail light were rusted and each time I messed with it the bolts became looser until today when none of them were tight. Also the grounding was bad.

Installed nutserts and bought new bolts, now working properly.

At least I can now drive it without the risk of the light falling off. I will deal with the rust later.
