Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Worked on the speaker pods since I didn't have to do much walking doing this. I'm installing Kicker 6.75" component speakers.

I also updated the lights with LED bulbs.

Passenger side pod done. The tweeter is in the little pod on the housing.

The dash speakers are Kicker 5.25" component speakers. I'll work on them next.
I'm just trying to do things that don't require me to do a lot of walking.

I went the ear buds route. Noise cancelling while the top is off and was cheaper.

I wear hearing aids so ear buds are out.

I started working on the front speaker pods. But I'm going to have to pull the speakers back out to get these pods into the dash due to the stanchions are in the way.

Well DAMN I can't use the dash pods because the stanchions are in the way. When I change it to thru the dash bar then I can. But for now I'll just use the adapters for 5.25" speakers.

To mount the tweeters on the cage I got creative.
I drilled and tapped the holes I'd ran the 🔊 wires through before.

Then these mounts screwed into the holes.

Fishing the wires through was loads of fun.
First I fed the wires in from the bottom.

Then fished the wires through the tapped hole.

Then assemble the tweeter pods. And then fish the wires through the pods to go into the mounts.

Then screw the mounts back into the cage brace.

Then the pods snap into the mounts.

Nice work, Rick!

This thread should be renamed to:

I need to go find the thread where someone had worked on enclosing the dash speakers. I seem to remember it was a process.

I seem to run into this a lot. Go to do something and it doesn't work because of something I'd done before.

Meh, just satisfy yourself by revving it loudly with the garage door open until your neighbors come over to tell you how awesome it sounds. Because 'murica.

I've done that a few times and had a few neighbors stop by that have been following my build.
