Car pics too cool not to share

Same with the thunderbird variant. Used to be several in our small town.

They sold almost a million t-birds in that body style.

We had a '91 T-bird. Let's just say it wasn't my favorite car. The previous generation looked a heck of a lot better - that one looked like a 15 year old Camaro (at the time).

I had a '92 T-bird. V-8 powered. That thing was long-legged. I found myself driving way too fast on the highway more often than I should have been. I decided that it was probably something I didn't need to use as a daily driver. I did like it, however. Generally, a very nice ride.

Ours had the 3.8 V6, and a slip-O-matic. I will say that the engine was very nice - my main problem was that it just was NOT my kind of car. Wife insisted on it.

Wife and I were driving down the twisty near our house, she was in the T-bird, I was in a '74 Mercedes 240 Diesel. She was in front. On the straights, there was no contest - she was GONE! On the twisties, she couldn't get away from me as the MBZ had much better handling than the T-bird. I wasn't particularly impressed with the T-bird's handling, although a new set of shocks made it a LOT better than it had been. The car was just too damn big to be thrown through sharp turns like this road had. Steering felt twitchy to me as well.

It takes a lot of rubber to hook hard enough to go wheels up in a 65 big block Impala !

That's a beauty. SS/A class says she's running in the 9s. The car looks back-halfed, I wonder what's powering it.

A high school buddy of mine had a white '65 SS 327/auto car when we were teens. It was a decent project car. Sadly, he never had the money to get her road legal, so his dad sold it to a scrapper after it sat in his yard for 2-3 years.

1970 was good year....

I had the 69 442 convertible with a 400, the 455 wasn't available till 1970 however I did buy a 455 and swapped it in which sounded like a good idea at the time but years later seriously de-valuated the car when they started selling for $100K plus. That car was probably the most fun I ever had with any car and it was a real head turner. Could roast the rear tires all the way thru a six lane intersection with an automatic (TH 400).

Worth pointing out that these are all Impalas, as the lower models, like the Biscayne (Biscuit!!!) only ran two lights on each side, if I recall correctly (save for the oddball '59, of course). Please feel free to correct me if'n I'm mistaken on this (@BlueC ?).

That's correct. I do love a 2-door post Biscayne.
