Car pics too cool not to share

I sat in a coupe version of one of these back in the early '80s. It was sitting at a little used car lot that was closed for the evening. I had no idea what it was at the time. It was unlocked, so I climbed in and started looking it over. Popped the hood bonnet, and saw the Chrysler 383 in there. When I got home, I started pouring through all my old car books looking for what the hell it was (this was a time before Al Gore invented the internet...). Finally found it, and have been a fan ever since. Love 'em!

I like that car, long and low. (y) I don't think I've ever seen a B-pillarless 4 door like that, or at least I can't think of one. It's a clean entry, but I'm guessing Ralph Nader and the fed boys had a fit over a car like that.
Weren't there several years of Continentals like that (like this '61)?

Edit:
Nevermind. I guess they did have B-pillars (this is a '68).

No, that Lincoln is built like a standard issue 4-door hardtop with an abbreviated B-pillar, which is what the door latches to on the Lincoln, and doors hinge from on most other 4-door hardtops.

The Facel Vega above has no B-pillar. Its doors latch at the rocker.

Yep. I realized you were right after a little more digging for a pic. I can see why the engineers would want the B-pillar but I love the big clean opening. Sorta like the modern extended cab trucks:

Although my friend had an older one and there was a lot of rattling between the front and rear doors on rough roads.

The only other vehicles I can think of besides the Cadillac above would be the newer trucks that came with the rear opening extended cab doors...

Beat me to it by this much...
