WRG winch rope on the website!

Got mine installed. Took longer than I planned because I had to remove the winch to remove the roller fairlead. Of course I had to remove the bumper to remove the winch😂. Any way I used Mr. Blaine’s how to tip to attach the line and it worked perfectly. I tensioned the line by pulling my side by side through the gravel with the brake set.

You're about to ruin a perfectly fine winch line. If you look at the back side of the fairlead, there is a line engraved all the way around the opening. That line has to be visible in the cut out in the fairlead mount. Make it so or you'll cut the line under load.

Thank you for that information. The top looks fine but the bottom does need more clearance.

I was told my teaser pic was too subtle so hopefully this helps.

Your eyes are not deceiving you. That is a dual color line. I have been working with Blaine to bring to market an 8274 specific winch line that met what specifications I wanted in a line and like Blaine at as best a value as possible. They are in production as we speak but still a good five weeks before they are available. I will be making an official announcement both here and on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100083479955171&mibextid=haYZDX
once I have available to ship out.

Sometimes the obvious escapes me and I forget the important stuff. This is a collaboration that pleases me greatly. Dan had an idea and asked if I could help him solve it or if I knew of a way to solve it. At the time, it seemed that nothing that appealed to either of our sensibilities as to how things should be done in a clean, simple, and effective manner was out there and all of my dumbass answers were just that, dumb. But, what the hell, can't hurt to ask, right? So, we sent over a request that we were almost 100% sure was going to result in something ridiculous looking that was just not going to work. To get back what we did and get it better than we ever hoped still amazes me every time I see it. I couldn't be happier working with both Dan and our line supplier.

To add some background, this month last year is when Blaine had announced that he was going to work towards bringing out winch lines under the WRG banner. I have always had an idea of what I thought was the ideal rope for an 8274, 125' of 3/8 with a safety thimble and some form of visual indicator when you got the last bit of line to aid in not burying the rope end into the fairlead. For years I had just left a chafe guard on the line but that was more frustrating than useful. What had eluded me was that I wanted a simple visual indictor that did not interfere with the winches operation. So I approached Blaine to see if he could help make it a reality. We bounced some ideas around and in the months that followed a lot of frustration for Blaine in trying to just find a rope supplier that would produce the quality of rope that we both knew we wanted let alone a solution to my challenge of a visual indicator. I know a lot of folks were wondering why the delay in getting ropes out but once you get one of these ropes in you hand you will understand. They are supple without being a wet noodle and smooth without being slick. When Blaine told me that the rope supplier he finally found to work with could dual color the line I know we were both skeptical about how that would turn out. All I could envision at first was the transition would be like a mystery Dum Dum and be just an oddly colored mess. To both of our surprise what the rope supplier provided is just pure magic with an absolutely clean transition between colors.

Now we just need to figure out that snatch ring one of these days.

I love this ATG/ WRG collab. Well done!

Very good things happen when people who understand things and have very high standards decide to work together to solve problems.

Just wanted to say that I think the front of my Jeep looks so much better now. Just more simple and clean.I know a lot of folks like the brighter color lines but I’m digging the black! A small benefit of removing the heavy cable and roller fairlead was that I gained 1/4” of lift.

The only reason we have the black lines is I know lots of folks will ignore the sound advice of using a bright colored line to make it visible in use. So, rather than pay attention to that, they will avoid it and buy elsewhere. Consider the black line a tiny bit of hypocrisy on my end to help you get something that is quality and value.

Black rope can work good in the snow. 🤣

Other colors would work good in snow too though, so there you go!

The availability of getting a new colorful which line intrigues me but my practical side takes over and says why fix it if it ain't broken. I did get a WRG thimble. How can someone tell if a line needs replacement. Fraying is a sure sign but what else do you look for? I have only tested my winch to see if it went in and out when I bought the TJ. Do you let out all the line and hook up to something and winch it in? All my other winches are steel cable which work better for how I abuse them.
