What did you do to your TJ today?

Yes sir, I trimmed the plastic windshield trim and had to trim the door surrounds also.

hhhmmm.... I want a set but I'm not keen on cutting up the door surround.

ATP's product description says...
This is a bolt on product, no permanent vehicle modifications required

Was there something rogue about your door surrounds that required you to modify them? Can you share a pic of what you needed to trim?

I wanted them placed as far forward as I could them.

I had to trim in front of the bolt hole on the door surrounds to get them where I wanted them.

I probably could have placed them behind the front bolt, but wanted them forward to keep from banging my melon head on them.

I wanted Grabars, but since the are no longer being built, and I got a bargain on these from a forum member.

Yesterday was the first trip with them installed and the wife really loved how sturdy they feel.

Took it on a real shakedown run on Denver Creek today out of Pinehurst, ID. Everything worked as it should. Got to use the crap out of my 103:1 final drive ratio and it blew my mind. We ended up at an old abandoned silver mine for lunch and then drove a real tight creek back down to pavement. Still need to get the pics my wife took but I do have a group pic of most of the rigs at the mine.

All together we were 15 strong. Also some decent art at the mine.

Did that run last weekend. I am very much looking forward to lower gears and lockers, since there is only one spot right after the second water fall that I have to bypass. Glad you had a good time!

It was a little larger group than I usually like but every rig was set-up well enough to make it without help. The group consisted of 3 tjs, 2 xjs, 1 zj, and the rest were jks and jls.

Bumped the mirror today & it fell off the windshield. I guess 22 years is the life of the glue. Permatex glue curing now. We'll see how well it holds. Reviews were mixed, but the negative ones sounded like people didn't follow the instructions very well.

Guy at the autoparts store was hilarious. He was looking for a mirror. I had to convince him it was just the glue even though his ticket said mirror. (online order.)

It's a good day for topless jeep ride.

Replaced all of the control arms. No more wandering around and wondering which way the Jeep will bounce after every pothole. Pulling to the left on braking is significantly reduced but not eliminated. Steering wheel is also a bit straighter.

You can center your steering wheel by adjusting the drag link connected to the pitman arm.

I was going to tackle the valve cover gasket within a couple of weeks. I am going to hold off on doing the VCG until I am ready to do the rear main seal at the same time. That should fix both oil leaks in my Jeep.

My next big project is fixing the transmission leak. The puddle of trans fluid on my garage floor is much, much bigger than the puddle of oil.

I keep saying that one of these days I'm going to pull the steering box and replace the input shaft seal to fix the leak, but as long as the chicken bones, blood, intestines, midnight nude dances with a spear around the bonfire while chanting to the great ancestral god of Jeeps, Eugene, keeps working why bother?

Although the rest of it is entertaining, I think the Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak is probably doing most of the work of keeping the leak to a minimum. Still I do need to replace that seal someday. Especially since I've already purchased the seal/gasket kit.

Mine has a small leak that drips like 1 drop a day. I just park it on the gravel and leave it alone! 😂 I started the video of rebuilding the box and decided it can wait. I'll keep an eye on it and hope it stops with the Lucas lol I could just go ahead and getting a steering skid on, then I wouldn't see it!

Prepped my Jeep today to pass state inspection this Wednesday. I needed to take a picture of my current mileage and registration so they could fill out the sticker. 😎

I grew up in VA and remember when my dad got his license or whatever it was to do state inspections (the "sticker guy"). He became the most popular guy at the shop real quick.

So true! My mechanic knows I take care of the Jeep, so I make his job easy. He said the "sticker guy" might be leaving before I get there. He will fill it out ahead of time. I've only driven it 1,500 miles since the last inspection.

Honestly, having seen it done 1000 times, if you know your mechanic it's hard to call it a safety inspection! lol
