Canadian Shield for sure. We're about an hour North of Parry Sound, off in the the bush. We only do crown land bush camping, can't afford the pp rate unfortunately. Well, can't afford the pp rate and the other things we want in life 🙂. Calling for 90kph wind and large hail today. We'll see if the tarp survives.

I know the area and would prefer Crown Land to Provincial Parks. My wife is a new camper and prefers the park amenities so it's not going to happen for us. Good luck with the wind. Staking things into rock is tough so it's ropes everywhere!

The amenities part is understandable, different strokes for different folks. The wind amounted to not much more than stiff breezes but about 10mm rain fell in an hour. And nope, big tarp and one tent, not a stake in sight. Nothing to trip over either! 😁.

She's in her early 60s so I guess I should be happy she's camping at all. I'm in my early 70s and don't care that much about the amenities. I'm more concerned that I take 3 times as much "stuff" for 2 than I ever did for 1!

I camped one weekend last year and we had 65 km/hr wind for almost 36 hrs, straight. That of course meant all through the night. I've never felt so worn out. I think I would have preferred rain or snow for that long.

I had some fun camping and doing some light trails this weekend. It was the season ending event at Mosport, a former Grand Prix, CanAm, TransAm, etc. race track NE of Toronto. I've been going there since high school back in the 60s. It was a small event with low attendance. The closet campers to me were half a football field away. (y)

That's a sweet tailgate setup. Did you fabricate it yourself or is it an aftermarket one?

I assumed you built the trailer yourself, but I meant the actual tailgate on your Jeep. I wasn't very specific in my half asleep attempt at a question.

I built the tailgate table. It's basically 3/4" pine covered by 16 gauge aluminum. The table top is a vinyl floor tile. I painted my LJ grey since the pics below were taken.

I helped my parents winterize their cabin this last weekend. Only involves blowing out their water system which is easy to do. But it was good to go up for a few hours and enjoy it.

From a couple weekends ago, our clubs attempt to stay dry on another rainy weekend here in the northeast during our fall off-roading get away in Florida, MA. Some very wet trails but only a little drizzle when we got back to camp.
