Steering system functionality

Your shop could have and should have tightened the loose bolt to it's proper torque value and sent you home.

To be fair the guy offered to weld a washer on it for $50 and send me on my way. The RC kit was recommended as a permanent fix as well as an upgrade. Shady as he may be I could’ve pulled my smartphone for a quick search. Within 30 seconds of research I’d have ran away.
Where is the old track bar that was removed? Was it Currie or JKS? Currie = drilled out to 5/8", JKS = 9/16" or just a little kiss on the taper at the small end.

I never received the old parts and I don’t know what was on it.

Inverted T is never an upgrade and never a permanent fix. Which hole was it?

If it was Currie/Rockjock, they kept a 500 dollar trackbar.

Was this Locked-in Offroad, or Outlaw?

Where in HSV are you? I could swing by after work or this weekend to help you look it over... or you could bring it by the house too...

Edit... nevermind, just re-read your location... lol.

To the OP, @mrblaine has stock type used knuckles, or he did. If you ask, you can purchase a set. I did, and soaked in EvapoRust and sprayed with Krylon semi flat. They look better than factory.

I put a Currie steering and Trac Bar and my 4” lift on 35’s runs 75-80 all day on the highway and bumps, and no issues.

My suggestion, don’t go a step further, it’s never too late to make a good decision.

Putting the knuckles on was actually very, very easy. One of the easier jobs I‘be done on my TJ. Biggest suggestion, when you put the axle back in, use a bar to wedge it up some so you don’t push the inner seal. I may have over thoguht it, but didn’t want to cause a problem there ha.

I still have some but I was waiting for him to get to that point before I offered. I didn't want it to seem like I was selling parts.

sorry about that, ha.

I’ll 3rd party say…buy knuckles from Blaine, get back to stock, job is not hard, and get your rig back to good. But don’t skip any of the steps, they all matter. (Maybe not the paint, but it sure looks good ha)

I don't make any money on them. I paid 100 per pair as cores when we used to use the stock knuckles for brake kits. Of the 30-40 pair I have, a full third of them are what I consider junk so they don't go out to anyone. Now I'm at 130ish a pair. I only keep them around for situations like this.

You have wheeled with him and know who he is. You wouldn’t expect this behavior from him. Seems pretty well known in the industry. It took me 2.5 years for me to put 500 miles on the regear he did for me for him to check wear patterns. He may have figured I’d put it back in the garage and never look at it again.

Just texted the guy and he immediately called me. Says he doesn’t recall a rock jock track bar being on there but he said he’ll take my word and order a new Currie trackbar and swap it out with what he installed on my jeep.

I’ll take a set please Venmo or PayPal ready

Guy is ordering me a Currie track bar

Thank you for noticing, I’d have been screwed worse without being able to call him out on it.

To be clear, the trackbar is not able to be fully identified from just that one pic. If it is a Currie/Rockjock, then it was installed incorrectly or looks to be from that single pic. There is not supposed to be a washer under the head of the 5/8" bolt and the ball has the flared out washer surface machined down to straight and shortened on that side. The other side against the trackbar mount is still the same flared out end. We also can't see the gusset welded between the joint body and tube.

Send me a private message with your info please. We'll dig a pair out and inspect the tapers and pad sliders.
