Goodyear MT/R 35x12.5x15 discontinued permanently?

Jyna.

Seriously though, those look like the cheap Chinese tires my friend used to rock on their Jimnys in Japan. And that looks like a Jimny too.

I see there is a politics forum as well--I think I'll stroll on over and go see how much we all agree Biden is the best president ever. EVAR!!
Those four members were banned here for their anti-Jeep rhetoric. 🫢

Oh, no doubt. That wasn't the Jyna dig it sounded like. Most everything is made there as you pointed out. The difference is how much whoever pays them to do quality control and how well they do it. Some are good, some are bad. There was nothing wrong with the tires my buddies were using according to them (keep in mind Jimnys have a tough time getting over 50mph). I just recognized the tread design and I remember the Japanese guy saying they were generic Chinese brand. If you think we bash stuff made in Jyna, you should see the JDMers. We ain't got nothing on them 😀

OK… If they are gone for good, what would you suggest for a guy that needs a 35x12.5x15 tire that behaves as closely as possible to a MTR?
Good luck. That's the tire I'm running and I gave up looking for more replacements after a while. I sliced my MT/R sidewall open in AZ two years ago and it took Discount Tires a couple weeks to locate a replacement which they had shipped in no charge for me. The DT rep said he thinks it was the last new GY M/TR 35x12.50R15 left in the country.

If I was looking for another set of tires for rock crawling I'd probably go for BFG Krawlers.

That's not an option for me. I have no desire to go bigger than 35" tires. I don't think they make either the Blue Label (DOT) or Red Label (non-DOT) smaller than 37", and the Blue Label is only available in one size (37x12.5R17).

They did at one time, I just figured out they dropped them when 37's became the new 35's. Now it's only available in 37".

Like you, I won’t be going bigger than 35s but I also have the limiting factor of my 15” wheels.

I know I think 15s go in a tj,but ya tuff choice.,I guess it’s Baja boss

Last time I was off camber I looked at guys on 17" wheels and thought they seemed to have a little more stability than I do on 15". Whenever I need new tires next I'll be moving to 17" wheels.

I agree on likely getting the Baja boss next, but like some others in this thread unless I destroy my tires they'll rot before the tread matters and have time for the market to maybe have additional options.

I used to doubt this, until my last tire change, I went from a 32r17, to a 35r15.

When I first aired down to 10 psi on the 35s, the difference was so stark, I thought I’d lost a shock bolt or something. Much more of a “wobbling on the sidewalls” feeling.
