Utah Moab 2024 JuneFest 9th-15th

The big driver for me was to take the kids.

After how nice the weather was last year I do prefer it. April has been cold and rainy both times we attended. Coming from the cold of Minnesota, I look forward to warm weather. We've also had guys run into snow storms crossing the Rockies in April which wouldn't be an issue for you but it's less likely in June.

My daughter has been back seat riding since she was 5 in Moab. Never had an issue, she used to fall asleep on the trails. We'd be bouncing along and she'd be out. There's not much high speed stuff and the kids always seem to like climbing around on the rocks or exploring.

I'm at 5500' and always get an April or May snow.
And wheelin' in the rain doesn't sound too fun.
Mid - High 80s looks to be Moab June normal.

The girls would love this stuff and I'd have to gear it toward their comfort (and grandma's). Going to get them out in one of the Jeeps for some trail riding soon I hope, just waiting for a bit of snow and cold enough to freeze the mud.

Also, debating on whether to run standard aluminum wheels and 'C' rated Cooper Evos or use my 16" beadlocks with 'E' rated tires (probably M/T Baja Boss or MTZ). In that video it appeared some of the rigs weren't aired down much. I'd like to run 8-10psi if doable, on either set of wheels.

EDIT: Forget the Beadlock option. After not a lot of searching here I find I don't need a solution to a non-problem. Guess I'll put some beadlocks up for sale locally.

..and my SwayLock was ordered today to replace the AR.

Are there specific reasons for choosing June or April, other than just scheduling?
I guess kids in school might be the reason for not attending in April.

Do lots of you trail with your kids in the back seat? Do you pick and choose trails accordingly? Mine are 6yr old twin girls (adventurous) .

Figuring out how to get the 5'er and the LJR there at the same time. 2 tow vehicles for sure.

I'd be running the LJR topless/bikini regardless of which dates I choose so I don't nick my hardtop.:) and can dress for cooler weather.

When I attended Moab before it was with the old JeepsUnlimted forum & they did their events the first year in April and as App said many found it too cold so then they moved it to May. Both years I attended then (2007 & 2008) I took my daughter out of school for a week. The fun part for her was that her birthday is in May so both years we celebrated her birthday in Moab. I started taking my daughter Jeepin with me when she was 3 and by the time she was 4 she enjoyed being out on the trail all day long. Since it was just the two of us she always rode in the passenger seat & I just turned the airbag off. My first year I ran my soft top and would just unzip the windows as it warmed up and put the upper doors in the back. But the second year I also just ran a Safari top and would bundle up if it was cold.

If you think an obstacle may not be the best place for the kids to ride then they can always watch and even better, get video. Last year the kids showed how they could climb in and out of Mickey's hot tub when none of us chose to do it in the jeeps.

I run 6-8 psi on my beadlocked MT bosses and have been satisfied with them. Everything works in Moab.

You can for sure run 8-10 PSI with either set of rims & obviously with the beadlock rims it's less of an issue.

The girls would likely be screaming for more when I'm in full pucker mode.

Do you know if there is 'overflow' parking at most lodging facilities in Moab?
Rustic Inn, etc.
Would trailer the LJ with my F350 with the wife and grandkids. Guess I can call the hotels.

I’d call your lodging choice. I’d assume most have a plan for how to address trailers, you won’t be the first trailering.

It's the bunk over the cab... I'm staying at the KOA. They have showers and a pool. Ryan can tell you more about the campground. I'd lay in other plans just in case I can't make it but I'm going to do my best to come. If I can ever get the Jeep running. And then I've got to repair the motor in the motorhome too.
If I get enough of an influx of funds I'll do new heads but if not I'll just do new head gaskets and ARP studs.

Edit: I don't NEED a roommate but I've got the space so I figured I'd offer up the spot. I can't say how comfortable that mattress is but it's a place to sleep.

It's a nice campground. Nice showers, lots of restroom options, big pool, good laundry options etc.
