C.J. Roberts
TJ Addict
I'm curious why. Is it the nostalgia factor or the flexibility of not having a PCM, airbag, etc.? I've owned a CJ7 and a TJ so I have seat time in both.
Nostalgia is a large part of it. The longest lasting Jeep I ever had was a '79 CJ7. I bought it new and only got rid of it when it needed an engine that I couldn't afford. It was easier to get a new YJ financed.
The basic simplicity of it has a lot to do with it too. As relatively simple as our TJs are, the CJ7 had none of the computer sensors and such that the TJ has. There was so much room under the hood of the CJ that I could practically crawl in the engine compartment along side the AMC V8.
That being said, my TJ does have a lot more miles on it than the CJ did and shows no sign of giving up any time soon.
If I did still have the CJ, it would be well over 40 years old, (as opposed to the 22 that the Muddog is), and would be getting hard to find parts for. I'm satisfied with my TJ. I don't regret getting it, and the only way I could see getting a CJ again would be something to blow some of my Powerball winnings on.
