Hey Everyone!

I am still kind of new to owning a TJ. When I purchased the jeep it had a Rubicon Express RE7000 4.5 inch short arm lift kit on it. All of the bushings were shot and it was way out of alignment, so I brought it over to 4WP and followed their advise.

It now has new Teraflex adjustable control arms, Currie upgraded steering kit, Rubicon Express adjustable front and rear track bars. It is much better for the most part, but it is quite harsh on and off road.

I am now looking at replacing the shocks and springs to try and make it more comfortable. It has 35's on it and I would like to keep it that way.

Any advice on shocks and springs to improve the ride quality? I am open to other suggestions that I have not thought to ask as well.

The shocks and springs on it match what would have been included with the RE7000 kit originally, I have no idea how old they are. I have looked into the RS5000X, but I do not see a model that would work with a 4.5 inch lift.

I have read bad things about a 4.5 inch lift with short arms as far as ride quality.

One idea I have been bouncing around in my head is going with a metal cloak 3.5 inch spring and rockshock with a 1 to 1.25 inch body lift to maintain the clearance for the 35's. I have no idea what I am talking about though and that could be a terrible idea.

RE springs are known for providing more than advertised lift. You should measure your springs to see how much lift you’re getting. Stock fronts measure 12” and rears are 8”. Anything more than that is lift amount.

Short arms have nothing to do with ride quality. These people are experiencing badly performing shocks.
