Hi…

I’m getting ready to do the Rubicon bypass with a toggle switch. I would like to add one of the OEM-ish switches as the safety/ ground complete, but I cant figure out how to get power to the switch to illuminate the led when on. Full disclosure, I’d like to think I know what I’m doing, but actually have no idea with this one.

You guys are the best, thanks again.

Thanks for getting back to me @Jerry Bransford. In hindsight, I guess doable is subjective haha. I dig the factory look and have one blank for an OEM style switch. I also like the idea of the light being on when the OEM locker switch is live.

Same dilemma basically , but my take is it is redundant since the dash lights up-

I’m wiring mine to the dash illumination circuit to locate in dark.

I wheeled hard Saturday and loved the versatility- I’ll never run a stock nanny system again. Maybe just long enough to get it home to tear into it.

The stock system is to fussy for a wide variety of trail conditions and speeds.

@AndyG Keep us posted, i would love the illumination as well.

My TJR switches have an illumination plug, so im going to wire to it....

On the Gold Cost Distributing, Im going to call them to do the same.

Ive seen guys make them look stock, light the innards, but it is over my head/patience level.

Glad to post what I learn.

You are wanting to add a switch to disable the factory locker switch? I dont see much point in that, there are already a lot of conditions that need to be met before it will engage.

If you are wanting to bypass the factory switch I highly recommend it. I have guarded switches that can activate either locker whenever I want. No 10mph, no 4 lo.

One way; run positive through the switch (which will turn the light on) to a relay. Then run your ground signal through the NO relay contacts for the locker.

Im doing this locker bypass that adds a switch complete the ground for the factory setup, but id like it to look as OEM as possible.

I did that. Cant remember exactly what terminal numbers were used but all wiring was done right at the factory switch. I can turn either locker on at any time and the factory switch also still works if for some reason I want to use it. Any switch will work. I used guarded toggles because I had already filled all 4 slots with factory-looking switches for other things.

This is on my TJR - wired the Daystar switches into the illumination circuit- exactly what I wanted-

As of right now I don’t know how to do that with the Gold Coast switches- will let you know if I find out, please let me know anything you learn too.

Thanks
Andy

As I posted above, if you want gold coast switches to have illumination you'll need to add another bulb.

Is there not a way to direct wire their orange light to the illum. Circuit?

Looks like you could if you resoldered the existing light to the board but depending on how it wouldn't change intensity when it's switched on or it wouldn't indicate when switched on.

Cool- dash tells me they are on- just wanted an easy way to spot em in the dark- i’m not well versed electronically-

Looking at it though it'd likely be harder to re-solder the existing light for different function than it would be to solder the new one in like that poster did.
