I ran it with 33s and only TruTrac's front and back. Didn't even need to pull rope. Plus there will be an XJ with us so you wont look bad at all. Lol

I ran it in 2014 on 32's, 2.5" lift, open front diff. I had no business being there, but had good friends help me along.

Im interested.

Have been a bunch of times but not with the TJ yet.

A really good friend of mine drowned at Buck in 07 and I think I have only gone one time since.

Looking at pics, last time I was there was 2009 in this dumb thing. And turned out we had a stow away from Loon to the Tahoe side. That jerk ate really good for 3 days :D

@Alex01 and I did it last September. There was nothing smaller than my TJ on 33s. That run was really fun. No go rounds except soup bowl but the experience inspired some upgrades in the clearance and armor departments.

I'm a Maybe on this. But interested and if my trip in June to Moab works out I'd be ready for another trip in July.

I've got both a Premier Power welder & a Ready Welder so if I can make it we'd be covered.

Alright fellas lets try and hammer out some days that would work for the trip. I personally am open to any days. I am on the fence about going during the weekend as there will be a ton of people, but it will require the least amount of time off from work. Let me know what you guys think, weekend or weekday?

P.S. I have added some information to the first post and will be keeping it updated as we go.

Also I have only been on this trail once with a very experienced group so I don't know a whole lot about the trail. Where are the best places to stay along the trail?

Buck lake which is about 4-5hrs in and rubicon springs. Rubicon springs has a $20 fee per rig but is a nice campsite next to the water.

Rubicon springs is about 1.5hrs from buck. Rubicon springs is about 3hrs away from the end.

If I can make it anytime is fine with me since I'm a retired bum... The Less people the better to me but I know it sucks to eat up vacation time too.

Fyi,

The two big events in July are:

July 11-14th
is the “Jeep jamboree USA”. 100+ rigs,

July 25th-28th 72nd annual “Jeepers Jamboree”. Trail closed for this event.

From what i hear, the trail gets a bit more manageable after the big events due to the roadbuilding that happens. Personally, i wouldn’t mind an easier/smoother trail for my first trip. :D

Planning around those events, seems to leave the 1st-14th, 15th-24th, or 29th-31st available.

I think, for me, considering the two big jeep events, and the fact that I have a local socal trip planned ealier in the month of July that the 15th-24th timeframe is probably what I'd prefer.

I'll put it out there that my first choices would be the 17th -18th-19th (Wed-Thurs-Friday) or the 21st-22nd -23rd (Sun/Mon/Tues) with not much preference between the two, at this point? I like the idea of lower traffic during the week, but also, less vacation days needed during the weekend, since I have to plan a travel day to/from So-cal, so that's 6 of one/half dozen of the other right now, for me personally.

Just about all of the times I have gone have been Memorial and Labor Day weekend.

Would head out from the Fresno area early Thursday morning and be on the trail by lunch. Would go in through Wentworth and camp near Soup Bowl the first night, Buck Island the 2nd, Springs the 3rd, then a hotel in Tahoe the last night.

Doing it that way put you at least a full day ahead of all the holiday dingdongs. But since 2020, seems like there is twice the traffic on the trails everywhere now. I still would think going in on a Thursday any time would be the best bet but who knows.

I can say right before and after big organized runs its paved.

Any time after the first week in July I should be good to go.
