Hello Everyone,

I purchased my 06 Jeep TJ last year and have been upgrading and fixing it since then. It was in a fair condition with good maintenance done on it. However, I've encountered an intermittent issue with the head unit. Despite replacing it with an aftermarket one, the problem persists. Essentially, every time I turn the ignition on/off to start the vehicle, the radio settings/clock resets. While this problem is intermittent, it occurs almost every time.

For instance, upon starting the Jeep, the clock resets. Occasionally, the clock might retain the correct time for a while, but after a few restarts, it resets again. I've inspected the battery terminals, which appear to be in good condition, and I've ensured they are properly tightened. Despite these efforts, the issue persists. Any insights into what might be causing this?
I would be greatly appreciate it.

there are two power connections for most car sound systems. one is supposed to stay on all of the time and maintains things like station memory, clock, volume, etc. the other, which powers the tuner and amplifier is only on when the key is 'on' or 'acc'. i suggest you download the installation manual for your system and check the wiring.

There are 2 parts to the ignition switch.
The part that the key goes in (on the center console side) & the part that makes electrical contacts under the steering column when the key is turned.
When I had this issue, I replaced the electrical portion (accessible from the door side of the column when the cover is removed) and it fixed it.

That is the part I replaced the electrical switch with the electrical plug. No luck.

You might look into your ASD relay- Your back up wiring could be tied into a circuit that can shut down and it’s killing your secondary power to the stereo.
