Steering locked up on a roundabout

Have found someone who can ship the sway bar for $120, i imagine therefore that adding a few extras wouldn't increase that cost too much

Work up the list of parts you'd like me to try and get for you. We'll go from there. Be aware that I can probably get several things wrapped and padded well inside the bumper to protect them and send that as a standalone package. I can do the same with a front swaybar with the end links removed. If you need new end links, we can get those easily over here.

Thanks trying to not lumber you with too much as i've always wanted the Bedrug stuff but that adds a lot of bulk/weight!

I think just

Bumper
Sway bar
Tailgate bar (inc brackets)
No drill windscreen channel
Hood latches

I think that probably covers the main things that the guy here is expensive with that might be more readily available over there. Although if you can get hold of any random interior bolts/screws i'd take them. I have various mismatch screws holding the dash in and some are even missing!

I need a specific list of fasteners. I likely have multiples of most of them including a few 100 dash screws. There are two types that are hidden, they are all hex indent Phillips washer head. The difference is the washer diameter changes some depending on where they are used. What I don't have a lot of are the Phillips reduced head oval head captive washer trim screws for the knee blocker on the later ones. I have the shorter versions, not the longer ones.

I need links to the parts like the tailgate bar. The brackets can be a challenge but be aware there are two different sizes. They need to match the bar. Is the windscreen channel the clamp style typically used on bikini and safari tops?

That said, I am pretty sure all but the swaybar will fit inside the bumper and be well protected.

Mainly the bolts i need are the 2 screws in the 2 rear cupholders of the centre console.

3 of the ones you mention you don't have many of

I think that's all i can really remember given i don't have the Jeep with me

Yes that's the windscreen channel, i picked up the Smittybily frameless soft top, but don't have the fittings for the windscreen/tailgate. I hadn't realised there were different sizes. My plan was to buy the Bestop ones, but these look fine to me

I see 6 fastener locations in that picture, which ones do you need? I have all of those.

The early rigs should use the shorter trim screws. The later ones use some that are about 1 1/2" long to hold on the knee blocker.

Send me a private message so we can get this figured out.

Well, i spoke to the mechanic who suggested it should be ok to drive as long as it was close and i was careful. I figured i could tackle a few of the repairs myself and then get the garage to check it over afterwards. Good learning for me and saves some cash.

On the way home (<5 miles) it stalled 4 times and needed jump starting each time. Usually at a junction when revs would be low. I also recall when it needed jumping prior to the incident, after the first switch on it idled around 2k rpm for around 30 seconds before dropping to a normal range.

At each time the same thing happened. As @mrblaine said, the steering didn't actually lock up, just went super heavy so felt as if it did during the initial occurrence. Now at least i knew what to expect.

The radiator also seems to have got punctured so the engine was starting to overheat, so i pulled over and called the recovery truck. It just wasn't safe.

A sad day but hopefully it won't be too long before it's back on the road

Well hopefully slowly getting there. I drove past the garage as since leaving it with the recovery guy i've had absolutely no update to say it's been delivered from either the recovery guy/garage!

Upon turning on the industrial estate i knew i was in good hands. The grounds are absolutely rammed with various 4x4's of all varieties. Old Jeeps, new Jeeps (Wranglers and Cherokees mainly), old land rovers. Nissan Patrols, land cruisers. Even a few heavily modded Porsche Cayennes!

This was the first row of cars parked up. There are probably around 3x as many as this (image from Facebook)

Have started to accumulate parts. Picked up a radiator from someone on a Spanish Whatsapp group. Although he's sent me two! I've 4 tyres coming today as over here you need to officially register with the driving agency any external changes. I want to swap to LED headlights and add side steps to help the wife get in. Both of these need registering and adding to the vehicle documents. Figured i'd also change to 31's as that again needs officially updating so the garage can do everything together.

Fender, flare, steering rod, bonnet and bumper end bits are all ordered and going direct to the garage.

@mrblaine is very kindly accumulating a pile of stuff for me, so that should finish it off.

The frame is also a little bent from before i bought it, so want them to sort that out too. The PO also drilled various holes in the rear 3/4 panels so hoping i can get those patched up and sprayed when they paint the fender/bonnet

I'm taking my mother in law back to the airport on Tuesday so have booked the day off work where i'm hoping the garage will let me strip the jeep in their parking lot. I figure i don't need to pay for them to remove the fender/bonnet etc and it'll feel nice to do a little bit myself.

The plan was to eventually get it resprayed. Can't decide whether to take this opportunity to do it, or whether it's a project for another time given we're building a house.
