Basket's Build

You'll want it to be snug. They make 1" and 3/4" sizes on those bumper mount adapters.

Ah I see yep "jeep D ring bumper mount adapters" very nicely named products lol

I like the RockJock option too & from what they say it fit the Roadmaster towbar too. (I'd forgotten about the RockJock)

Yeah the bummer is that it looks like they use the same top bolts for the bumper that I'm already using for my tow hooks so I'm not sure they'll work for me. I don't know if there is enough material on the frame off the frame rails for these

You might have to get a front bumper with some shackle mounts? I know that just adds to cost.

For now you can use those adapter plates while you figure out what you want to do.

I love my OEM bumper ☹️ looks like it's 200$ish whether I buy shackle mounts + adapters or I just buy the legit flat tow brackets. I'd probably buy those mounts you posted before I bought a new bumper.

I'll probably have to go out and look at where I actually have space after work before I can really pick something

You mean the quick disconnect ones I was originally talking about?

There are some other shackle mounts but they were all around the same price. These look nice too.

Yes. For now they would be the cheaper option.

I could just throw something like these on the front. For 35$ it won't matter much if I bend one

Not sure I'd use those. I'd go for the plates you were originally talking about.

These look a bit nicer but no backer plate sadly

The problem is they will be extremely ugly

Don't think they're strong enough?

I didn't realize the frame is a tube up front not another flat plate like the rear. I figured I'd be able to put bolts through the frame too. Makes me wonder if it would even be strong enough

Most of the other ones made for flat towing look to be double shear like those curt ones I sent

I'm not sure that is the issue.

Yep, that was why I'd put a good backer plate behind whatever mount you used.

When I was flat towing my TJ I had those Curt style mounts and I bent the CRAP out of them more than once. I welded the mounts to my front bumper so I couldn't just swap them out when needed.

Would these work without their modular bumper?

They look like they just bolt to the stock bumper mount location.

Yeahhh after taking a look it's a lot more involved to reach behind the bumper than I expected it would not be all that quick to change them out. But I guess that's a potential problem for basically anything I go for.

That is what I thought at first, the pictured bolts look kinda small for that. I guess some of the reviews allude to installing it without their bumper. I like that I could replace my tow hooks with these and then just keep d-ring adapters attached to the tow bar

You wouldn't need tow hooks with those.
