I guess these are Whippets? I keep finding them in the cactus garden that separates my property from the apartments next door, at first I thought they were C02 cartridges but when I Googled it I found they could be Whippets which contain Nitrous Oxide and people use them for a high?

Yeah probably dummies getting a weird head rush off of nitrous. I don't understand why they dump em on the highway and random spots instead of a trash can?

Today I learned that whippets are a dog breed.

The legitimate usage of those cylinders is for whipped cream dispensers.

Yup those are 100% being used as a drug. You'll often see them using them with balloons or bags too.

Same reasons you see needles and beer cans on the ground.

In my junior and senior years of high school we had a guy that didn't make it back from Christmas vacation until late January or early February.

One of those years he had done so many whippets and cheap beer that when the whole congregation stood up during Christmas Eve Mass he ended up falling into the center aisle and didn't move until the EMTs put him on a stretcher.

That was the alcohol or whatever else he was on, nitrous wears off very quickly.

Edit to say, unless he was doing them during mass. :ROFLMAO:

My mom gave me a bunch of those whippet cannisters back in the 70's. She cleaned out her "baking" stuff and thought I could use them in my CO2 pellet guns. I haven't heard of their usage for a long time, but they seem to be popular again.

Anyone ever seen the Steve-O documentary with his whippet habit? I always remember that when he was getting clean he went to a Starbucks and they asked if he wanted whipped cream. The whipped cream they use actually use those NO canisters. So being Steve-O, instead of saying no thanks, he says no, I'm addicted to nitrous oxide! Dude was in bad shape during that time though.

Lately I've been going through some of the least populated places in north America (the kinds of places with only one road in) and it's slowly reaching those places too.

Yeah, its reaching rural areas now. Fentanyl, carfentanyl, xylazine, and ketamine are really scary.
