Is Interco smoking meth?

I was entertaining the idea of a set of 32/11.50/15 Swamper SSR's for my kids XJ until I found out they are $450.00 each.
Has someone at Interco been smoking meth or something?

Well, if Interco is smokin’ meth, Maxxis is mainlining heroin. I’ve been looking at 42 Treps. About a thousand bucks….

…more than the SSR’s.

😬

They are on average at least $150.00 more per tire than other manufacturers in the same size. It appears they are pricing themselves right out of the market.

They've been high for a long time. Definitely a specialty product, in a niche market with limited competition. What other options are there for something that aggressive?

Best option is to watch the classified for a used set.

Every swamper I have ever run was heavy, fast wearing and never could get balanced except for the trxus mt. Even then, they took a ton of weight. They worked pretty good for my terrain though.

I have run ssr's, ltb's, tsl's and trxus mt. The trxus mt were my favorite out of those until they became too old and thr rubber lost its grip.

Ltb's were skinny boys and lost beads every outing. I became really good at setting the beads though. Traction was really good.

I've rean a few different Swampers from the original TSL's to SX & IRocks & even had Thornbirds on a rig I bought (they didn't stay on long) and I've never had issues with them balancing. The Boggers I had would pop a bead a lot but I think part of that was I had to wide of a rim.

I only ran one bag of balancing beads in my 38" SX tires. I guess I'm not as picky about my tires as some other than I want them to WORK. I've always ran Swampers for the traction they allowed. And I knew going in that they weren't a DD tire and didn't expect them to be.
But I also ran Ground Hawgs on a truck in the 80's so I was used to fast wearing tires.

Some of Interco's tires are over a grand. I remember paying $280.00 each for 35" SSR's. back in 2005. They have actually doubled in price. I haven't run them is years mainly because the shops around here stopped carrying them and I no longer play in the mud. Love them or hate them, they are a fantastic mud tire.

Sx are a popular tire around here too.

The ltbs so bad they broke my exhaust due to then shaking/vibrations 😆.

The smoothest were the ssr and trxus for me. I was driving to the trail back then though 4 plus hour trips. Ironically I have smoother riding tires now and trailer it. Go figure.

I had a friend in high school that ran co-ops grip spurs. They were bias ply with very deep tread and you had to buy them from southern states/farm and feed stores. They were a bit noisy 😆

My 33x13.5 ltbs really aren't bad with no weights once they warm up and round out.

But i think like wildman I'm under no illusion that they belong on the highway.

I was going to get a set of these until I read about the balancing issues. 8-12oz a wheel to get them just ok. :(

That's so close to a ton of weight I'd probably drill some holes on the heavy side straight towards the center of the tread. If I was 20 yrs old again (+/- a couple yrs and a few beers)

Yeah, I made that mistake a long time ago with some LTBs. They were great in the Texas and Okinawa mud, but man were they terrible on the road! I was 20 something though so different comfort/safety views.

I’ve been thinking about Treps since 2019. I can never pull the trigger. I think the 35’s were $569 a month ago.

So that's why you did the flip. This whole time I just thought you F'd up. When's the next one? ;)

Planned. 100% planned.

(‘Course, if I had a set I would have tried again after getting the rig back on it’s wheels. The Jeep was sure ready.)

Still giving some thought to Moab with the June crew. Not firm yet pending some other travel we have planned.
