Hi all,
This is probably a stupid question. I just installed a reman engine in my 2000 4.0 manual. I went to tighten the vibration damper bolt, and so put the transmission in gear to hold it. However, when I go to tighten it I can still turn it. I thought the transmission would hold the crankshaft and make the vibration damper unable to be turned. Could I have installed something wrong? Should I pull the transmission? I can see the flywheel turning through the hole for the starter, but have no idea if the clutch is engaged or not. I don’t want to pull the transmission if I don’t have to, but I don’t want to start it up if something is installed wrong. Thanks!!
