New Tool Day

In other news, my shitty snap ring pliers snapped when doing my SYE. What are y'alls recommendations for a good set that won't break or break the bank?

Granted, I haven't used them a lot, pretty happy with my Knipex, though they are set-pin and thus requires owning multiple tools to suit different applications. If you can find a solid set that uses swappable pins (and aren't too fiddly about it), might be a good option.

The knipex snapring pliers are the best I've used. I have the full set but you could get by with just one (I'd look at the size but I'm not home for another week to look).

I also bought a set of Knipex, they work.

I have a big pair with interchangeable tips that can swap between internal and external rings I bought at Napa a while back for rebuilding a turbo. They have been pretty great (though not completely universal). I think they are Carlisle?

I can say to stay away from the channellock swappable ones, I had to buy them in a pinch one year and they're not very good.

I find myself buying a new tool fairly often. I'm sure I'm not alone, so I figured might as well have a thread to post up new tools that follow us home.

Today's addition:

I've been on the search for another multimeter since I let all of the smoke out of mine a couple of months ago. Decided to grab a clamp meter this time, and in my research, kept seeing Kaiweets brought up, and spoken very highly of.

Now I usually shy away from cheap Chinese tools, in particular electronics. But this was looking too good to pass up, especially compared to the cost of similar Fluke and Klein units. Add to that a 50% off coupon on the Amazon listing right now and I had to pull the trigger.

I've only messed around with it a little bit, but so far I'm impressed. Smart function that automatically detects the needed setting, but also buttons to allow for manually setting the unit. Also has Inrush, non-contact voltage tester, auto-ranging, thermometer along with an attachable thermocouple, and a decent little zipper case. For $27, I figured it was worth a shot, so now we'll see how long it lasts.

Does it run off AA, AAA or 9 volt batteries?

Mostly Mooslim countries I see.

Those red ones are the countries where sodomy is illegal even in a private residence. In Russia and China, only public displays of homosexuality are illegal. In other words, in the red countries they'll kick in the door in the middle of the night if they think the occupants are doing sodomy. In Russia and China the government places higher priority on privacy and doesn't investigate gay rumors, but sodomy is still a crime in China.

BTW... I agree with the red countries.
