How to hook up DRL on LED headlights

This is one of the simplest things you can do. Just tap that wire into the parking light wire for the fender flare side marker. Each side marker has 3-wires, one of which is the running light.

Then when you turn on your running lights (not headlights), your halos (which is what you're talking about I assume) will come on.

Otherwise, if you just want them as DRL's (not having to turn on your parking lights), just use a relay that is powered by an ignition "on" circuit. Fuse the wire, though.

Elaborate? I just hooked up mine the other day but would love to give this a try instead?

On a standard automotive relay-
Pin 30- fused battery plus
Pin 86- trigger voltage (your ignition "on" source)
Pin 85- ground
Pin87- out to your halos, DRL's, etc.

If you're just running LED halos, I would think a 5 amp would be fine.

I'm reading what you're putting down but not comprehending what I need to do. Sorry pal have a quick step by step? What should I buy?

I just grabbed this pic off of amazon, I cannot vouch for their quality.

It's easiest to get a relay with the socket too. On the relay, you can see the pin numbers that I was referring to. Since it's made in china, I have no way to know if they are following a standard wiring color code. You will have to check the bottom of the relay, there are numbers on there too, right next to the relay pins. Make sure that you get the correct colors for the correct pins.

Here's an inline fuse kit-

IIRC, all of the empty slots in the engine bay PDC are powered all of the time. You can usually find an empty slot for your battery + but you will need to go through the firewall for a switched trigger voltage connection.

Here's a pic...

Notice that I have edited my other post to jive with with wiring in the below pic. Pins 85 and 86 are reversible, it does not matter which goes to ground and which is the positive trigger. I just did not want to confuse you.

I just installed LED headlights on my TJ and it has a DRL wire that I taped off since I don't care to use it for parking lights. Ever since I installed, my battery keeps going dead. Lights work fine and they we're plug and play with no wiring needed. How is this possible??!!

Put led headlights in my 99 Jeep Wrangler. How do I hookup daytime running lights it has one red wire. Thanks
I just did mine a few weeks ago, I'll go out tomorrow and get pics. Mine come on when the key is on. I tapped in under the hood. There is one under there...You don't need to go into the cab.

Were you able to determine which fuse slot you used that is controlled by the key?

Fuse tap if you want them on all the time.

I don't care about that so I just tapped into the marker lights on either side. Have halos on with the running lights.

I ended up using the same “Heated Rear Window” slot as @scottgraham and it worked perfectly. They are off until the key is turned on unlike any of the fuses under the hood. Thanks for the help Scott!

This might be a dumb question, but you did exactly what I plan on doing. How did you determine which wire to tap into for the halo? I also have Amber turn signal halos that would work if I tap into that wire correctly.

So, this solution works perfectly. I do not have a rear window heater, and I used a voltmeter to test the four leads of the HBL Relay. One is always on 12 V, and one is on only when key is on. I used a standard spade electrical connection and it works perfectly.
