What did you do to your TJ today?

Did you make the whole thing you're holding in your right hand out of the For Sale sign?

The orange piece is from the sign. The accordion looking thing is factory and slides out of the indicator bracket. I epoxied the new home made selector to the smallest piece of the shifter accordion.

Living in Detroit, that's the least of your problems. I'd bullet proof it and tint the windows. It wouldn't hurt to put a BLM decal on it. I pity you and Portland with your pussy leaders. Good thing is if Biden gets elected President, he won't remember you guys anyway. Dementia is cruel. My Mom died from it 2 years ago and I took care of her. He has every symptom and it's sad.
Uhhh... Thanks. I think I'll be ok.

My shift light indicator for my automatic transmission is broken and does not display what gear you are in. A new shift indicator is $350 for a new one (no way I'm paying that).

A $3.99 garage sale sign, an exacto knife, a little epoxy, and some time resulted in a new and functional indicator. The new one is wider and covers the letter/number of the gear you are in too (not just the little hash), which I like better than the stock setup. Thank you for the assist @BuildBreakRepeat

Good job!
There is a "cheap and free mods" thread (link below). You might want to repost this there.

Cleaned up the intake for the cabin. Added heat insulation to the underside of the cowl cover and the intake as well and some silicone for good measure around the lip of the cabin intake. ...
@Ephry73, It's hard to tell from your pics; do you have the rubber seal that goes along the seam at the back of the engine bay, right in front of the cowl (see pics below). If not, you may be "sucking" hot air from the engine bay into you HVAC intake because this seal seals the back of the hood against the top of the firewall to block air from the engine bay from blowing up into the cowl area.

Just wanted to give a quick initial thought on my new soft top. Damn, has it made a difference!! I thought the old top was decent...it kept the weather out. But, this new sailcloth version of the original top is noticeably quieter inside, even on a 100 degree day like we've been having the A/C has no trouble keeping it cool inside, and it just fit and looks so much better than the old one. Bestop for the win.

Here I was up in the Cherokee National Forest yesterday hiking and painting.

I do, but in my jeep it only goes to the shoulder of the cowl.

I have to say, the day was perfect to test the setup. The fan was blowing much cooler air than before. No AC level air of course, but easily 15 degrees cooler than before. The Jeep being black in color by the truck bedliner coating is never going to be cooler, and when it's sunny and 100. The air felt so much better and was "refreshing" in a way.

I do have to say the changes I made and sealing the tranny tunnel as per stock configuration have been a great improvement.

Next on the list is the fan motor resistor and motor(depending on how bad the motor is) as I only have super slow or super high fan speeds.

One of these days I will start working on retrofitting the A pillar vents on full doors. Those were amazing specially on hot days.

OK, so it does not follow the curve down on either side? I would think that would still stop 90% of the hot air from running right up into the cowl...since the air intake on the cowl is in the center.

I think it was designed that way. I didn't want to open more vents, as I am sure there is a max size the intake of the cowl can be versus how much air can flow in it. With the big opening under the motor area, I can see that underside being the big draw for hot air with the cowl / firewall seal in place. Once I do the Windstar air filter mod I can change the opening and see. For now I am liking my mod to the cowl cover and HVAC intake. Seems quieter when blowing air, but that is just my mind playing tricks on me lol

I bought a hard top and installed it today. Yeah, I know, it's still summer. But school is starting soon and my daughter will be driving it, so I feel better with her having doors and a hard top. She'll be keeping school stuff like a laptop and band instruments in there, so I also added a Tuffy security enclosure for the tailgate area. Between that and the hardtop it should be a lot more secure.

The Mrs and I took it for a spin tonight and she was shocked how much quieter it is, especially on the highway. Yeah, having windows will do that :)

It's a newer top (without the vents) on a 97, but I'm not getting any whistling and the blower motor isn't struggling. I don't have any carpet, just a bedlined interior, so I popped a couple of plugs out to let the pressure equalize. I think I'll try adding them back in one at a time just to see if it starts to whistle.

Finally put the top back on. It's been off since November. Hopefully we'll be getting rain soon and I don't want to get stuck in a thunderstorm now that the Jeep is my daily driver. Unfortunately I think this will be the last season for my 17 year old factory top. The seams are starting to come apart and the zipper for the back window is on it's last leg of life. She needs new tires first. They got pretty chopped up in the rocks this spring.

Drove to work. They have us coming back into the office again. I may have to get gas sometime this year. I'm still on the same tank as 4 1/2 months ago.

My squeak from the park brake is gone too. All it took was a lift to tighten it up a little.

I noticed a slight vibration in my shifter after the lift. Nothing major, but it's there. It should go away once I get to the body and motor mount lift. I'm waiting for it not to be so hot outside.
