Mikes LJR

Moved over from the other thread..... Yeah, here's my rock sliders that attach to frame.....I really would like to know who made them...

Like you, I wanted to removed the diamond plate body rocker guards, but can't get them off without taking the sliders off. I too don't want to loosen up the mounting as they are "ROCK" solid. Not sure if there are nutserts in frame or just self tappers.

My rocker guards will come off after I do a body lift. I'll put them back on after some cleaning and refurbishment.

Recently got my tire carrier tight to the tailgate. Eliminated the squeaky wobble.

Mounted my CB external speaker. I had it at the same spot but on the passenger side in the TJ. The flip seat hit it there and almost ripped it off. It is kind of close but does not interfere with my right leg at all.

I plan to buy a black hard top locally tomorrow. Good price (not great) but I'm looking forward to it for longer trips. A hoist will be very high on the priority list as I really enjoy riding with just a bikini top and no doors.

I installed the 12 O'Clock Labs SpeedoDRD to correct the speedometer. Very easy install and programming. Its a 20mm cube with a 6 foot wiring harness with factory plugs that goes at the transfer case. The plugs just go between the factory harness and the small cube can be mounted anywhere but should be protected from the elements. Currently it is zip tied at the transfer case for testing. Programing instructions to fix my 13.9% low speedometer. It should work for all TJ/LJ.

Today I finally finished my hardtop refurb. I painted the interior with SEM Landau Black and installed Hothead Headliner. Also got new gaskets for the tub mating surface. I really like the hard top but dont think I will use it that much so now I am wondering why I spent so much time on this! My Bartact seat covers (if I ever get them) will also be graphite with black trim so they should match pretty well.

I'd be interested to know if the headliner makes much difference in interior temperature with a black top. It's been CRAZY hot here in So Cal, I assume Florida is the normal Hot and Sticky.

Yep, very hot hear. I asked on this forum and did not get a large number of answers but everyone did believe it helped in some way. Hoping to get some sound reduction also.

The hard top refurb looks beautiful!
Did you use a primer before the SEM Landau Black? I will be doing a similar refurb but white interior + headliner in October for a cold NY winter.

Thanks, it actually looks better in the Jeep with the black roll bar covers etc. I did not use a primer or paint prep. Probably should have. I also feel that even thought the SEM paint has very good reviews it does not cover very well. I had two cans of Landau black on hand and could have used three or more. Some places did not cover very evenly but its not noticeable at all once on the Jeep. No where locally sells SEM and I did not want to wait for another shipment.

I used nearly a half of a dozen cans but I tend to over do it. The black interior looks so much better than the disgusting OEM off-white. My only regret is not having done it sooner.

I recently found the perfect Jeep for me. A low mileage 2006 Silver LJR with manual transmission. It was a three day trip to Houston and back and halfway there I almost turned around thinking it was crazy to go that far for a Jeep I only had seen pictures of. Luckily I kept going and brought it home. 23,xxx miles on the odometer. It sits on 12 yr old 35 inch BF Goodrich MTs. Has a skyjacker lift with spacers and transfer case drop. All of this will change.

It had been sitting in the POs driveway and the soft top had a small leak so moments after I got it off the trailer the factory soft top was off and the carpet was out.
