(Don't you love it when someone starts a thread asking for product recommendation, finds a solution that hasn't been discussed in the thread, but doesn't post photos, links, prices or any details. ;))

Haha, yes, that one. I guess you took care of the hard work for me

That one is simple, but it gets the job done and works with the MORryde hinges, so it's a win-win.

5 foot Firestik II for road use, will carry a 2 footer for trails. Plus magnet-mount GMRS antenna on fender.

Incidentally, Always, always run a larger antenna on the DRIVER'S side. You'll thank me the first time you park under a tree - or even drive down some streets!

Any issues with that antenna slapping into the body/hood? Seems like it would always be rocking or be pushed into the body/hood by trees etc...

That's a good question. That's why I: A) put it on the driver's side, and B) will use a 2 foot on the trail! I can get it to rock enough to tap the hood if I hit a pot hole at the end of my drive way the wrong way. Otherwise - THUS FAR - its fine. I've had it up to 70 on the freeway, drafted and passed semis, etc, and no problems. It lays back but is outboard of the cab roof. If it does end up oscillating or hitting unacceptably, I'll go down in size on the roads, and I can always stop for 30 seconds and swap in the 2 footer.
