New development in coolant leak hunt...

Thanks for the input Guys. Looks like I need to find a mechanic. Not sure that's something I can tackle. Rebuilt the engine in my 83 Monte Carlo. That was more than enough to let me know I'm not a great mechanic... ha

New development in coolant leak hunt...

Hi All, I have been chasing down a coolant leak for a bit now starting at the obvious places and checking them off the list as I go. I was scratching my head as to why I was still losing coolant at the tune of about half gallon every 2nd or 3rd time I'd drive it. Until today. I believe I found...

Weird lighting issue on 2002 TJ 2.5

So following Rubicon88's suggestion about checking the rear tail light area, I also remembered someone else in the forum saying that they had a bulb filament shorting out their lights. So with that in mind I looked at the bulbs and they were blackened on the top of the glass bulb so I changed...

Weird lighting issue on 2002 TJ 2.5

I was going to say yes everything is fine before the bump but my wife just reminded me that when we were out for the test drive after replacing the MFS the fuse had blown while driving. We were waiting in line at mcdonalds and so I took the opportunity to switch out the fuse. Before we got the...

Weird lighting issue on 2002 TJ 2.5

Hi everyone, About 3 weeks ago I started having lighting issues. I don't drive my jeep a lot at night so I'm not sure exactly when this started happening, but for sure 3 weeks ago it was happening and continues, just seems to be getting progressively worse. 3 weeks ago we found out that we...

Newbie needing advice on how to tackle rust

This is still on the subject of rust so I will ask it here... There is a little bit of rust on the rear near the driver side tail light. It's all surface and is not bubbling up... Yet. Anyone tackled clearing out rust like this? If so, the easiest and least difficult way for this newbie?

Newbie needing advice on how to tackle rust

@Flivver250 thanks for the suggestion on parting out. It may eventually come to that but for now I'm good with selling it or keeping it either way

Newbie needing advice on how to tackle rust

Thanks for the well-wishes @bromel & @JEEPCJTJ. It wasn't an easy decision and a sale is not a given. I'm ok with that. If it sells then great. If not, I still have my TJ. Either way is good as far as I see it. If it doesn't sell then maybe I will eventually address the rust. That remains to be...

Ok, so after reading everyone's posts and giving it much thought, I have decided to sell the Wrangler. I don't really want to but I've already put my upgrade budget into it just to get it back to operational standard: Water pump Manifold exhaust gasket Shocks & steering stabilizer New rotors...

Newbie needing advice on how to tackle rust

I agree... It will be a long road ahead if I decide to try to fix this. I'm not sure if I can but if there is some hope (as in NOT finding frame rot behind the skid plate ) I'll just take it a little at a time. The advantage I have is that it is not my main driver so I can let it sit until I get...

Newbie needing advice on how to tackle rust

I can't argue with your % certainty... By "the center section of the frame and the body" are you referring to the part of the frame under the skid mentioned in previous posts? We most likely will find this out because I will be removing that skid to look at the frame. "You'll spend upwards of...
