Trip to Big Bend National Park

The pictures probably don’t do the true experience justice. Great pics! I’ll be heading to the BB Ranch State Park later this month, staying near the river. Anything you wish you would’ve done that you didn’t? Anything you didn’t pack that you wish you would’ve?

Anyone using a Rockville powered sub?

I went with the 10” as well, placed behind the rear seat on the driver’s side with the speaker facing the tailgate. Left me just enough room to carry my tool bag, ammo can “air compressor case” and recovery bag.

    How I Finished-Out My Dash

Funny, because I just installed an Alpine Amp and Rockville powered 10” sub yesterday, but there are times I really do appreciate the silence.

Anyone know how to test a camshaft position sensor on a 2006 4.0 TJ?

Happy to report that I cleaned the ground @pagrey mentioned and replaced the OPDA with the Crown model. I kept the Crown Cam Position Sensor because I first tried the replacement Mopar CPS, and I was still getting a P0344 code. I then changed the CPS back to the Crown CPS and everything is good...

Heater problem: very little warm air in cold weather

How bad was the coolant before you swapped everything out? Chocolate milk colored coolant? Any overheating or higher than normal readings on the temp gauge? When I flushed and back flushed the core, everything seemed good for a while. I’m not a technician, but I wonder if the heater core is...

Anyone know how to test a camshaft position sensor on a 2006 4.0 TJ?

I haven’t yet. I replaced the camshaft position sensor with a mopar, the check engine light remained on and I took a drive around the block. When I was making a right hand turn, I could feel it was going to die aaand the Jeep died. I was able to restart and limp it to the driveway. I have a...

    AC blowing at 50% (?)

Could it be the blower motor resistor? I replaced mine a while back in my 06 because the lowest blower setting had always been out in mine, then the second blower speed stopped working and the third blower speed slowed down. Ha! Once I replaced the resistor, I got all the speeds back.

Anyone know how to test a camshaft position sensor on a 2006 4.0 TJ?

Thanks for the detail @mopar_tx that should help. I’ll report back when I get the Crown OPDA and the Mopar CPS

Anyone know how to test a camshaft position sensor on a 2006 4.0 TJ?

I’m beginning to think it’s a bigger problem. I installed a new CPS, it appears to be the same brand because it has the same identifiers on the part - Standard from O’Reilly. Just to cover it, the OPDA is a LDI, Inc. 53010624AC w/ 106060-Rev-E. Is this the crown replacement? I don’t think it...

Anyone know how to test a camshaft position sensor on a 2006 4.0 TJ?

Thanks! I’ll check this out. It costs more than the replacement part, but it could come in handy in the future as well.

Anyone know how to test a camshaft position sensor on a 2006 4.0 TJ?

It sure does and I can only speak for the 06 TJ, but the camshaft position sensor for the 06 has the additional wiring (pigtail?) with the plastic flex conduit. I disconnected this sensor from the OPDA if that helps. Also, is this sensor considered a Hall Effect type sensor?

Anyone know how to test a camshaft position sensor on a 2006 4.0 TJ?

Does anyone know the proper way to test a 2006 TJ 4.0 Auto Camshaft Position Sensor? I have a Check Engine Light (CEL) and code P0340 and I’d like to test the sensor before just tossing it and installing a new one. I cleaned it up before the photo shoot. Thanks!

    Wrangler TJ Radiator Replacement

Short answer, the quick connects on the Mopar radiator are not threaded. The long answer: On my ‘06 SE i6 Auto, the Mopar radiator I ordered came exactly as shown in the pic. You can’t tell but there are “e-clips” on the radiator ports that are easily removed using a pick tool. This style of...

    Stereo receiver power remains on

@59 wagon man - thanks - your post helped me to understand what was going on. So mine does this too. I didn't know the Key Cylinder would allow the key to release in the ACC on position. DUH! How lame I felt. Furthermore, my starter stopped working so as I was performing tests with a multimeter...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Installed a new Starter and found out what was drawing power when my jeep was turned off. I was turning the key too far back. I found out when I was rewiring my stereo receiver and testing wires. smh.

Coolant from A/C condensation drain tube

I don’t wanna jinx you buuuuttt...it sounds almost exactly like what happened to my heater core JUST before it started leaking into the cabin. I’m running a six auto 4.0 and I’m now the proud owner of a heater core bypass. If you have clean interior, have some rags ready.

Coolant suddenly poured out of lower radiator petcock

@TJ_Jake first, welcome! Ive found this forum to be the most useful TJ forum out there, a centralized TJ database. If it were me and going for a temp fix until plugging, i would see if your local auto parts guy can help you ID the radiator and go from there. The Taiwanese rad the P.O. had on...
