Advice on switching gears / axles to avoid welded differential

The S35 will most likely not happen anytime soon. The 4.88's would make highway driving more manageable, however I want to make sure I don't want to dig myself a hole with this purchase.

Advice on switching gears / axles to avoid welded differential

I believe the carrier break for a Dana 35 is at 3.55, can someone else confirm?

Advice on switching gears / axles to avoid welded differential

Recently found a good deal on a Dana 30/Dana 35 with 4.88 gears. However the rear is disassembled and has a welded diff. If I were to make the purchase, and take the ring and pinion off and just use the carrier that is currently on my jeep (also a Dana 35) would that hypothetically work? I checked the teeth...

    Gear ratios and bad advice

Sorry, a little bit off topic here, but recently found a good deal on a Dana 30/Dana 35 with 4.88 gears. However the rear is disassembled and has a welded diff. If I were to make the buy, and take the ring and pinion off and just use the carrier that is currently on my jeep (also a Dana 35) would that...

    Rear track bar issue

I currently have an adjustable rubicon express track bar (both front and rear), along with the adjustable arms. I was under the impression that I would be able to make due with a transfer case drop kit to eliminate vibrations for the time being. Also, I still need the relocation bracket even...

    Rear track bar issue

I currently am not working with the sye/drive shaft. I also don't have a track bar relocation bracket. I have a transfer case drop that was going to go in, but ran into the issue. In regards to adjusting the control arms to a shorter length, I believe I will still have an issue with the...

    Rear track bar issue

Hey, just looking some advice. I've replaced the springs, put in the adjustable front track bar, and control arms without any issues. I've put in the rear arms, everything was fine until the rear track bar. (4 inch lift, arms are currently 14ish upper, 15 3/4 lower until I can grab the pinion...

Is it possible to fix broken bolt on starter?

Hey guys, Before jumping into a purchase, I was wondering if it was possible to fix/replace a broken bolt on the starter. On the back end with the double threaded stud, the thread that has the nut holding the ground wire snapped as I was tightening it. Is it possible to remove the threaded end...

    Issues after Exhaust Manifold/Gasket Replacement

I guess I'll just have to carefully take everything apart and slowly put it back together. I took an extended period of time fitting the intake and exhaust manifold before tightening the bolts but had difficulty placing the injectors back into the block.

    Issues after Exhaust Manifold/Gasket Replacement

I'm sure they're seated correctly, if they weren't wouldn't the RPM's idle high? and the vacuum leak would be louder I believe. I didn't experience any issues while driving for about an hour or so.

    Issues after Exhaust Manifold/Gasket Replacement

Recently replaced my exhaust manifold and gasket, and had zero issues initially. It started to smoke on the first start but I'm assuming it was because I used silicone lubricant to help get the fuel rail/injectors in (It cleared after about 5 minutes). After driving for 50 or so kilometers I...

    Exhaust flange gasket replacement tips

So I put the donut in, and everything was fine and after a day or so instarted to get this weird raffle. Did I just install this incorrectly? Any ideas? Before lining up, and tightening the bolts And a video of the sound *turn volume down a little - it's loud*

    Help diagnosing idle sound

Hey guys, Recently replaced the flange gasket on the TJ and was fine for about three days and then started getting a strange sound. I retightened the two bolts, and still have the same issue. Below is a picture of the gasket before I straightened it, and tightened the bolts and then a video of...

    Trouble with wandering steering

After replacing the rear upper arms, I also decided to replaced the front sway bars with disconnects that I found for a good price (I noticed that one of the sway bars were shot). After the disconnects went in my issues with the steering are essentially gone - no more issues with uneven roads...

    Exhaust flange gasket replacement tips

Currently in the process of replacing this seal. I was at Car Quest talking to the gentleman at the front desk, and we found out that the newer models (2000-2006) didn't have a seal, and just went together - metal on metal. The pre-2000's had a flange gasket that went between the manifold and...

    Trouble with wandering steering

Let me know how how that goes, hopefully all goes well. I've changed all the lower arms, and the two upper rear arms and my wandering has significantly been reduced, however it still is somewhat there. I've checked the ball joints, and u-joints again, and it seems to be fine however that's...

    Trouble with wandering steering

In the process of changing the rear upper arms, and front sway bar bushings. Will have an alignment done when completed and report back with the results. The bolt in the rear sway bar bushing seems to move slightly when wiggled, would that affect overall handing in the rear? When moving too...

    Trouble with wandering steering

I have cam bolts in the front end, yes. I asked the technician about the difference of the caster angle after he was done, and the answer he gave me was that the difference in the caster after the alignment was due to just movement of the axle/wheel when they were finishing the alignment (still...
