I have an 06 with the Mercedes Steering box, and it started leaking a few weeks ago, so i went and looked at all of the options, and i didn't like any of them. The Lares and the PSC seemed like the best options, but neither is cheap. My box doesn't have any slop in it, so i decided to just rebuild mine with a seal kit. It was not worth it. Sure, its $30 over $1000 for the PSC, but it took over 5 hours. I still have no idea what we were doing wrong, but the first 5 times we assembled the box we had some combination of: limited range of motion, no motion at all, or alignment marks not matching back up. Most of those times, I have no idea what we did differently. The one pro-tip i can provide is that when trying to put the ball bearings in the split u shaped tube, use a healthy dab of grease to hold them in place.
I'm posting this, because i went looking prior to this and i figured the rebuild wouldn't be too bad, and i was wrong. that job sucked. if i had to do it again, id buy a new box and be done with it, and next time i run into a steering issue, I'm going to just call PSC and throw the kitchen sink at it.
