1998 TJ Flat Tow Setup

Anyone ever used this type of setup, attaching straight to the bumper? I have a Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain to bar setup and am wondering if I need to use a cross member bracketed to the frame or can i attach straight to the bumper? Thanks In Advance

I have the same setup as you, and am planning to buy the brackets to attach to my bumper D-rings as well. Just make sure you are comfortable with the quality of the bumper and it's D-rings. I am currently using the frame cross bar, and it is a PITA. Much prefer just attaching to the bumper.

I do it that way, using a 10" drop hitch flipped just like yours. I also run a Ready Brake in between. Been all the way from CA to ID without issue.

I used to use a set-up that attached to the frame via two receivers on the frame and a cross bar, what a pita. Switched to the set-up in the picture this year and love it. So simple. I built my own bumper so I'm confident in its strength. Make sure you have goods welds on the inside and outside of the bumper shackle mounts, imo, and you should be fine.
