2002 Sahara shuts off randomly

I just obtained a 2002 4.0 auto Sahara and the issue is that the vehicle shuts off randomly, no lights come on and no warning other than it started chugging a bit before it died. It will start up again but is unpredictable. Anyone have same problem ? The vehicle has only 150kms. On it and would REALLY like to keep it if possible.

It could have some pending codes that a decent quality scanner will pick up on. I'm not sure if the free ones you can use at Autozone do that or not, because I've had a scanner for years, but I'd check for pending codes. Also, a scanner that live data is invaluable, and I'd do that before I'd start throwing parts at it.

Could be a wiring / ground issue as well. If it were be I would scan it for pending codes as mentioned above, but also thoroughly inspect the wiring harness, grounds, and especially the battery terminals.

I had some similar "hiccups" in my 2001 Sport years back and all it turned out to be was the fact my battery terminals had not been brushed in quiet some time. Yes they were clean and tight but every so often I guess they need to be re-brushed to keep the sensors happy? Mine would also restart just after and never threw any codes or check engine light!
