2002 Wrangler 2.5L with P0320 code

So recently got the code P0320 for the crankshaft position sensor. Easy fix, no problems. I was advised to also change out the camshaft sensor as well or else I’ll still get the same code (or check engine light.) so I went onto rockauto and got the part I needed. But I can’t seem to find where the cam sensor is! I asked a buddy who said it was in the distributor but once I lifted the cap I didn’t see anything that resembled the part I got online. Check out the picture of the part, is that the right one? If it is, where the heck is it?

I also have the 2.5 and never saw one of those. the only sensor in the distributor is the electronic pickup.

So does the 2.5L not have a camshaft sensor then?
Its weird since its an option to purchase on rockauto. So should I just order the distributor sensor and return the other one? I mean would I still have a p0320?

With that code it could be either the distributor pickup or the crankshaft position sensor with the CPS being the more common issue. Watch out for the brand sensor you use, the 2.5 only works properly with the NTK sensors.

I sure don't know. New to jeeps and am curious also....learning about this stuff. Somebody knows what that thing is and where it goes,......I am sure.

Nope, does not belong on the 2.5

Okay! Did some investigating...according to Jeep, the cam position sensor IS the distributor pick up coil. I think the part I had was for a 4.0L maybe? Either way, should clear the check engine light once I change out the coil and the rotor.

I would do the cap also if your doing the rotor. Try and find brass contacts if you can, usually available at napa.
