Things I know guys will rag on me for that are up next to be changed:
Brakes- There is all brand new "upgraded better performance" calipers, pads and rotors on the jeep. Yes I know its a weak point that needs to be upgraded but for now they work just fine.
Gears- Running factory 4.11, would like to go to 4.88
Axles- Factory shafts, upgrading to chromoly soon. (rcv fronts if wallet permits)
So I bought this TJ back in Feb. 2019 and drove it around as my daily and planned on doing some modest mods until it turned into more of a weekend rig. Long story short the build process sped up a ton due to an AMA tow truck driver writing off my Jeep in a mechanics parking lot while still strapped to his flat deck. Obviously I kept the Jeep and took the reduced payout. Heres some pictures of when I bought it and after the accident and tear down.
The rear quarter and tailgate had been crushed on the headache rack of the flatdeck which was all the damage making this a write off. New panel welded in, now time for the fun parts!
Chopped off roughly 3" off the hood, the factory flange from these cuts offs were kept and welded back on to give the modified hood a stock look inside and out as I wasnt crazy about cutting it and just throwing a grommet on.
All new brakes, suspension and steering bolting up nicely.
Back home for final assembly!
I know Im missing a lot of info and progress pictures but heres the bulk of it. Im currently finishing up the wiring and cleaning up the engine bay, once Im done that Ill take some pictures to show you guys how I made everything work with the new fenders.
I started this build August 2019 and am almost ready to take it in for a salvage inspection... heres where my questions start. For you guys running LED signals/headlights. What did you do to get the daytime running lights to work? And whats all this nonsense that Im getting when I try and add my marker light in? I ordered a second set of 3 wire led penny lights to parallel off the signal lights but I think Ill still have the issue of no running marker lights/no signals when the lights are switched on. I can get the front signals to work but not when the lights are switched on and especially not when I had a 2 wire led wired in.
