This new toneau cover came with my jeep in a bin. Mine is a hardtop. I think it takes brackets from a oem soft top wrangler to mount it. Is a salvage yard the best source for the hardware I need?
The only thing your toneau will need is the rear tailgate bar and tub mounted clips for the bar, both used on the OE soft top. The clips should be easily found in a salvage yard, not sure about the tailgate bar, but I would start there.
I finally found the name for what I am looking for. Tub side rails/channels that the top clips into.
I can find them for later model wranglers but nothing for tj. The only thing I am finding fir a tj is the plastic armor you can buy to protect the oem channel.
Where can I find the tub channels? Does anyone have a source. My jeep came with the hardtop so no channels.
This should give you an idea of what they look like. The tub channels are spot welded to the tub itself so im confused what you mean? Are you thinking of a yj where they are seperate bolted on pieces?
My tonneau cover has plastic rails on the edge which fit under the tub channel. Every single TJ tub has this channel. It is not a removable thing. Is your tonneau cover something other than bestop or smittybilt?
I put the hard top back on to go to CO. will have to take it back off and look again as I did not see anything on the outer edge of the tub to stick the plastic strip on the sides of the tonneau cover in.
