2006 Rubicon brake upgrade

I just bought a 2006 TJ Rubicon and I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for upgrading the braking system. I'm running 35"BFG Mud Terrains right now, but I'm thinking of going to 37's. Any info would be appreciated, I'm new to this Jeep thing. Thanks

Are you experiencing any issues with your current brake setup?

Would you be keeping the factory Rubicon front Dana 44 for the 37’s?

Rim size will limit how large a rotor and caliper you can move up to. More pistons in the caliper are common on high performance brakes but I think the pads can make a huge difference if you already have enough clamping force. Again, MrBlain is by far the best advice to listen to.

I would be keeping the Dana 44s, they have upgraded axel shafts and gears. The front passenger side caliper has started sticking once in a while. I figured if I need to replace parts I might as well buy better ones.

How hard are you thinking about going to 37's. Why are you going to 37's? How is the braking now other than the sticking caliper?

I'm going to need new rubber next spring anyways so I thought the extra clearance would be good. The brakes seem a little soft right now along with the sticking. I've been told if you have to buy parts you might as well buy better ones.

I'd spend some time finding out why the brakes are soft first. It won't do any good to upgrade unless you have the system sorted first.

The sticking caliper can be caused by bad guide sleeves, rust build up inside the dust boot, rust under piston seal, bore filled with crap, or a defective flex hose. Most common is crap in the piston bore caused by the lack of maintenance and flushing the brake fluid every two years.

I'll start by cleaning everything up. I just bought it about a month ago so there's a few things I need to go through on it.

Pull the calipers off and clean/grease the guide pins. Flush entire system. Then if still soft pedal will need to look at hoses and lines. But do the easy stuff and then talk to Blaine. He'll get you straightened out.
