My shifter was moving around at ease. It was not engaging 4hi or 4low. I went under and saw it came off the bracket. I’m unsure what I need or even how to put it back together. Any help would be appreciated. I’ve attached photos. Thanks

You dead set on preserving the pen shifter linkage or do you want to come to the dark side and entertain purchasing a Saavy, Stienjager or equivalent cable shifter?

No lift or anything. Well the simplest fix is really what I’m looking for. Least expressive easiest fix lol
I am as sensitive to watching your finances as anything- But if you’re going to keep the vehicle it obviously has enough wear to justify purchasing the cable- The linkage has served the platform for a long time but it is an archaic method of power transfer.
That’s funny because I just ordered this. Now I just have to figure out the install. Most videos are upgrading the linkage not many for repair. I would think it’s self explanatory but nothing with this thing has been that.
It's pretty self explanatory. Just take some pics of the linkage before you take it apart.
At some point in the future, I suggest you upgrade to a cable shifter. For the life of my I can't understand why the engineers didn't install one from the factory. When properly adjusted, you can shift with just one finger.
Which one in the future would you upgrade to? To be honest, I don’t drive in 4x4 often so for the love of me I don’t know how this happened. Other than the knuckle head that tried to install my engine screwed its up. ( whole nother story there) for some reason I think when he was doing the clutch he probably raised the case up to high. That’s my guess.
I have the Savvy and it is considered the Cadillac of cable shifters, it's very robust and well designed. The thing about the stock linkage is it is overly complicated and prone to failure. Usually the bushings wear out and raising the body or doing a tummy tuck easily puts it in a bind. I was constantly having to readjust mine because it wouldn't stay in 4lo.
You are probably right about the case being raised up caused it to get out of wack. The thing is, you may not use 4wd often but when you do need it, you want it to work. No questions asked.
Of all the mods I've done the cable shifter is definitely in the top 5. Only downside is if you get the Savvy it doesn't come with instructions and installing it can be aggravating. @AndyG and i were able to put mine in without dropping the skid plate but it was hard to get to and took several test drives in the yard to get the throw adjusted just right.
Don't let me discourage you though. It's an essential upgrade in my opinion.
Its the Chrysler engineering way. Figure out the absolute bare minimum required... and do less.
Then take it down another notch and send it.
My vote is upgrade to a cable setup and save your irritation for something else.

I get what you guys are saying and don't totally disagree but contrary to belief the stock shifting linkage, when working properly isn't awful. Just my .02
I ran the bracket for about 10 years; worked great.
Had to switch to a cable setup when I did the tummy tuck.
