I remember reading at one point that the 32 has a check valve somewhere in the cooler line circuit. I had a crimped line and a hole on the TJ when I bought it, so I replaced the lines with rubber hose. I get a bit of delay when shifting to reverse, especially after it sits for a while. I was reading that this could be due to a lack of a check valve and the fluid draining out of the lines when sitting. Does anyone know where the valve is located stock, and what kind of valve it is? I was hoping to simply add an inline valve somewhere if at all possible.

Goes between the radiator and transmission where the hardline meets the rubber hose.

Do we need it,or take it out?

I plan on installing mine when the 32rh goes in. It should eliminate any lag when put into gear and keep trans fluid from draining back when the jeep sits for longer amounts of time.

I would absolutely keep it. There is chance of transmission clutch damage if driver initiates a quick cold start and fluid hasn't had a chance to fill properly. The engine will rev then engage harshly. Alternative is to start engine. Shift to neutral let run a minute or so. All good.
The 32RH does NOT pump fluid when in PARK. This is where the issue lies. Also why you should only check fluid when engine running, parking break on and in neutral. If not, you will get a false high fluid level reading on dipstick.

This is a common misnomer, and I bet you'll even find a post where I have shared it as well before I knew better. The pump absolutely runs whenever the engine is running.

In neutral, the transmission runs at line pressure, flows through the torque converter charge circuit, and then to the cooler circuit.

In park, the manual valve allows for a pressure dump off which results in the TC filling much more slowly, as well as reduced flow through the cooler lines. Sonnax makes a replacement manual valve that prevents this pressure dump.

I bought the valve and was going to install it. Then I did the TransGo shift kit and it no longer has any issues. The manual valve they give you in the kit allows fluid flow in park as well as neutral.

Again, it always flows. It just lows faster through the cooler & TC circuits because the OEM manual valve allows for a pressure dump in park. The sonnax valve does has that dump passage blocked so it charges faster in park.
