A/C compressor clutch repair

This is for a 2006 with a 2.4L. Is it possible to repair a sticking a/c compressor with installing new bearings or does the entire compressor need to be replaced? I have taken the bolt off the front but cant seem to separate the front from the compressor to get at the bearings. Thanks.

I haven't looked at my 06, but on the 92 and any others I have dealt with, you will need a puller to get the clutch off.

Should be a splined shaft with shims behind it to set the air gap. Tap on it with a soft blow hammer or improvise. From there, remove the snap ring and the pulley/bearing assembly will slide off the snout of the compressor housing.

When mine went bad I could not find a replacement clutch, so I bought another compressor and have not had any issues since

Sounds like your compressor may have froze up and smoked your clutch. Is the pulley bearing bad or the compressor froze up? Is the clutch friction-welded together? Can you spin the clutch disc by hand separate from the pulley?

All new hardware was included. Clutch, Pully, bearing, C-clips, nut and spacers. Easy job and it did the trick.
