The sliding HVAC control isn't the part that controls the fan speed. It's the rotary fan speed switch that I suspect is the cause of the high speed fan setting not working.
Similar line of thinking here but check the wire running to the blower fuse and make sure it isn’t corroded. Before assuming the worst.... The problem may only be dirty contacts inside the switch.
Go to Walmart or AP store and purchase some Electronic Contact Cleaner (Plastic Safe).
Disassemble the bezel face, remove the A/C controls and disconnect the wires from the fan speed switch. With power disconnected from the switch spray the cleaner into the switch and rotate the switch back and forth from low speed to high speed several times and then allow to sit for 5 minutes OR blow compressed air into the switch so the cleaner fully evaporates. Reconnect the wiring to the switch and test the fan speed switch.
Would the blower still work on the lower 3 settings if its the fuse?Similar line of thinking here but check the wire running to the blower fuse and make sure it isn’t corroded.
If that was the case it wouldn't work on the slower speeds either.Similar line of thinking here but check the wire running to the blower fuse and make sure it isn’t corroded.
Just the opposite. The resistor pack is only in the circuit for the 3 lowest speeds. The resistor pack is completely bypassed for the highest fan speed. The blower motor resistor would be the issue if all 3 lower speeds worked but not high
I understood the high speed blower on 97’s to be on its own fuse with the 3 lower speeds going through the resistor on a separate fuse behind the glovebox. I could be wrong though. If that was the case it wouldn't work on the slower speeds either.
Not ideal in the North Texas summer heatWhen I have that problem, I just open another window.
Oh shit! Been there, done that. Arlington, TX is my birthplace. Not ideal in the North Texas summer heat
Well, for the next 2 years, its the teens daily driver, Worse comes to worse, I have a Bikini top for it, she can deal with the heat.Oh shit! Been there, done that. Arlington, TX is my birthplace.
Nice thing about Texas is there's usually a breeze blowing, in the summer a nice hot, scorching breeze around the clock!
That's why I love GA so much.
Hope you get it fixed.
