It’s been a while since I posted and I’m getting ready for a trip out to Colorado so I’ll be around a lot these next few weeks.

Anywho the PO had broken the 4wd linkage before I bought it and wore the front 2 tires down quite a bit. The rear ones seem fine and I would like to get some opinions on my thought process.

I have a brand new Toyo m/t 305/70 r16 on the tire carrier and figured I would only need to buy 1 new tire. Move the rear tires to the front and put the fresh tire 1 new purchase and 1 from the tire carrier. Then I could save on of the more worn tires as a spare.

I would have liked to get some softer tires but right now it’s better to spend $210 on 1 new tire than $1000 on a whole new set when 3 are still viable.

So instead of the front passenger tires coming back it would be a brand new tire to match the brand new tire coming off the carrier.

If you were to go to my local Discount Tire they would tell you to put the two new ones on the rear and not worry about rotating. Depends on how much tread is actually left on your two good tires. I know they are in the business of selling tires and sometimes their advice might be geared toward making another sale in the future.

I bought a Tahoe years ago with Firestone tires that I hated. I never rotated them because I wanted them to turn to junk. At about 50,000 miles I replaced them and they all wore just fine.

I did that same exact thing and extend the life of my tires quite a bit...

Good to hear, I figured I was thinking quite logically here. But this is a first and I am ignorant lol.

my son gave me his 2017 rubi rims and tires with about 24k on them 2 looked quite worn and 3 looked 3/4 worn asked him if he was rotating them he said yes the dealer did every oil change.....them I asked how long between oil changes, he said when the light tells me bout 10,000.no wonder the two were shot.
