Advice on distributor problem

Your next step should be to rent/borrow a fuel pressure test kit from your local auto parts store and check the fuel pressure while it's running. It should be at or very close to 49 psi. And start checking it after the engine is shut off too to see if that pressure is falling off and how quickly it falls off when it does.
Okay. Will do. Thank you!

I forgot to mention that your '97 has a fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail under a protective screw-on plastic cap. The fuel pressure gauge screws onto it.

I tested the fuel pressure and when I ran the fuel pump once, it didn't quite get to 49 psi and dropped pretty quickly, if I cycle the fuel pump a few times it gets to 49 psi but still drops pressure fairly quickly. It had no problem holding pressure while the engine ran under a large range of RPMs. Bad fuel pump or bad fuel line?

It's beginning to sound like a bad fuel check valve. Fuel is bleeding past the check valve back into the tank.
You may have to drop the tank and replace the fuel pump check valve.

I've replaced the fuel pump before so I am semi familiar with that area. Where and what is the fuel pump check valve?

I did recently get in a small accident, and ever since the accident my whole fuel system has been weird. First of all if I go to fill the tank and leave the pump in The nozzle with the lock thing down it will not stop the pump after it is full and will spill out of the tank somewhere past the nozzle. Second, if my gas gauge gets to about 1/4 tank it starts sputtering whenever I go around a corner or up a hill like it's not getting gas. Any suggestions for these issues?

Again thank you all so much. I feel like I got a lemon and I'm determined to get everything figured out.

I have a 2.5L 2000tj and I was pulling codes for either a bad CPK or can sensor.
Read some threads and watched some videos was recommended that I changed the cpk.
I did boom pulled the codes 2 days later then I noticed my distributor was super loose to move got it put back in the right spot and tightened up and run good for two. Three weeks
Last week I'm driving about 60-70 mph in 4th about 28k-35k rpms my Jeep like jumped kinda felt like a missfire and kept doing it every now and then when I accelerated.
Take it to my local buddy and Midas and we end up changing my whole distributor set up had 3 cracked plugs changed those as well.
Went home drove for a day and then boom did it again on the same amount of speed and rpms.

Taking it to them again tomorrow but kind of at a loss. Any ideas?

I ran the my jeep at various RPMs with the fuel pressure kit hooked up and it stayed a steady 50ish psi the whole time. So it at least has pressure when it's running. Is there anything else that could cause it to big down at lower rpms?
