I recently talked to a guy at a restaurant as I was admiring his Jeep with 35's and asked him about his gears.
He said no need for regear.....just tell the ECU you have 35's and the tuner adjusts the shift points in transmission.

It can't be that easy can it ?
He showed me his Superchips Flashpaq F5 and anyone could use it.

Any drawbacks ?

While some of that like adjusting shift points might help with a newer JK or JL, it can't be done with a TJ. And even with shift points being raised it can't change the actual gear ratios for starting off in 1st gear and cruising rpms. In other words no tuner is going to eliminate the need to regear to lower ratios when mounting larger tires. He didn't know what he was talking about.
