Anyone run an adjustable brake proportioning valve?

I never had any issues with my conversion, thanks for the peace of mind though.
The problem with the TJ and why a lot of common brake wisdom fails is the short wheelbase, high center of gravity, and the resultant weight transfer all add up to a very fine line between making the rear brakes do anything and not do too much and lock up. Lock up is not at all desirable and should be avoided at all costs.

In that vein, one would think that the longer wheelbase of the TJ Unlimited would generate at least a different combo valve if not some better rear brakes. I'm guessing they drew the line at "good enough" and just went with standard TJ stuff.

If anyone wants to take a risk and wants to hold harmless anyone who can tell them how to adjust the bias, we can do that. If you kill yourself, I don't want to know about it. ;)
 
If I had that Wilwood valve, which direction do I turn the knob for more rear bias?

I converted to discs all around from an 06 LJ rubicon on my 98 sport. I did not like this situation I was in, where should I start with addressing this if the proportioning valve is not the answer? Honestly looking at that I would be a bit concerned the jeep may flop backwards if the rear tires locked up. Maybe not in this example with sand but if you were on something with a bit more bite.

Why are you fucking around on crap that steep without it in 4WD? Go back and do the exact same stunt in 4 hi and the difference in all things related will positively astound you.

It was in 4wd, but popped out which is how this whole thing started. I adjusted the transfer case linkage after this video, which was the issue. But after shifting into 4Lo that climb was no problem, you're right. It did highlight this inability to stop however.

No, it highlighted the precise brake bias and why if you reverse it, it won't work well at all. You are watching an exact demonstration of why the front brakes are much larger than the rear brakes, typically by twice and how that works. If you put the rear brakes on the front and the front brakes on the rear, what you see in the video is how they would work going forward. The fronts would spin and the backs would just lock up and drag easily at all but the most gentle of stops.

You turned the back brakes into the front brakes and the front brakes into the back brakes by reversing down the hill in 2wd. Now you fully understand how to prevent that from happening, why it can't be "fixed", and how brake bias and component size works.

Interesting insight and thank you for sharing. Ultimately, there is no "fix" to this as there is no problem with the way it was originally engineered. Does make for quite a pucker though, I can tell you that! Thank you for your feedback on this.
