Hello all,
I just bought a 2000 TJ with a 2.5L engine. Runs and drives great, but I noticed my high mount brake light wasn't operating. Upon troubleshooting, I found the PO had done his own electrical "fix" to the fuse box, jumpering the rear wiper power to fuse position 1 and 2 for dash illumination and brake lights. I see these two circuits are only putting out 10V, and so he jumpered from a good 12v, fused externally, and powered the brake lights that way.
I'm currently tracing out the issue, which I believe to be somewhere between the 1&2 fuses, and the 40A fuse in the main box, but because of the plugs he used in the fuse box, the fuse holders are blown out where they won't accept a normal sized fuse anymore.
I understand it's a PITA to swap out a fuse box in this car, but does this box come apart enough to refurbish, and bend the contacts back into shape from the back side? Worse comes to worse, I could always add in line fuse holders for these three and solder them to the OG wires, but I'd personally rather have something a bit cleaner.
Suggestions?
