Hopefully adds some solid life! These welds should be much harder than the cast iron since mig welding on the cast iron pulls carbon into the weld. Blaine’s knowledge there not mine.

The housing was just a little worn down on the bottom. The barnett cover hangs down a little lower than the housing (this cover is used but was never on this axle).

I wanted to add a little meat to the bottom of the axle and add a “wear layer” to extend its life. Blaine came up with the idea. I started by cutting some small notches in the housing.

Yeah just like the one picture and then some perpendicular to the housing face where that drain plug is on the rubi axles

Hahaha, having to deal with a torn meniscus and having to have surgery on it, I second this!

After two meniscus surgeries on each knee, I'll take any meniscus I can get.

I went with a 2 3/8” weld washer saw

These lower control arm brackets get bent to shit so I am preventatively welding on my home made washers to add some strength.

Next up I’ll trim the flange to the weld.

They are stock brackets and I welded on some 3/16” thick by 2” OD X 9/16” ID washers
