Hopefully adds some solid life! These welds should be much harder than the cast iron since mig welding on the cast iron pulls carbon into the weld. Blaineās knowledge there not mine.

Did they seem to be harder than normal when you were grinding them?
Seems like you need to commit and go barefoot.
The housing was just a little worn down on the bottom. The barnett cover hangs down a little lower than the housing (this cover is used but was never on this axle).

I wanted to add a little meat to the bottom of the axle and add a āwear layerā to extend its life. Blaine came up with the idea. I started by cutting some small notches in the housing.

Grind it smooth ish. It doesnāt have to look perfect, itās going to get drug over rocks anyways.

Hahaha, having to deal with a torn meniscus and having to have surgery on it, I second this!
What size are you going with?
These lower control arm brackets get bent to shit so I am preventatively welding on my home made washers to add some strength.
