Bad fuel float?

The gas tank is 19 gallons, correct?

Fuel gauge read a bit above 1/4 tank so I went to fill up. 10 gallons later, the cutoff engaged.

If this is the case, then the fuel gauge is reading 1/4 full when it's more than 1/2 full.

Thoughts?...

My Jeep does the same thing. On some models Jeep listed 15 gallon tank with 19 gallon upgrade. Same tank but the 15 gallon model had a longer hose in it to stop flow at 15 gallons. Solution is to drop tank and cut 6 inches or so off the line (can't remember the actual name) there's a write-up on the site.

Ive been shunned about a comment I made about this but from what I galther, the fuel gauge on E in the red is about 15 gallons. You can take it all the way down and put 18-19 gallons back in. I’ve only ever fit 16.5 gallons in. Rather play it safe myself
