Dry ice works better. Used to do it with valve seats and bearing races, really shrinks 'em up. Freezer works in a pinch beings dry ice is iffy here and comes from 120 miles away. Good suggestion though.

Did you order a new ball joint for it or were you able to just get a new dust boot? My new spicer 706944X lower ball joint dust boot cover has a small hole/tear in it and I'm hoping I don't have to replace the whole thing.
I purchased a new one because flange was distorted. Using Snap-On press was a charm. You can probably order a polyurethane dust boot from Prothane as not to have to replace the whole ball joint. I ordered some to replace two torn Correctlynk tie rod boots.
On the above OTC ball joint press issues, did you not use the Dana 44 adapters too? I used an OTC with the Dana 44 adapters and had zero problems.
I used the adapters, but you need to be an octopus to line it all up. The installation cup that came with the adapter kit was so sloppy and lose it kept rolling off from one side then the other no matter how much l kept it centered. Was going to weld it and turn it on a lathe for tighter fit and more contact with shoulder but bought Snap-On that simply works with ease. And because l am a tool junkie.
That's surprising to me as I had zero issues after I finally got a set of the Dana 44 adapters for the CTC tool I was using. The Dana 44 adapters fit and worked perfectly.
Might be new installation cups from China are the problem being made out of spec. Mine was just ridiculously sloppy and very little contact on flange of the bottom ball joint. Glad you had no problems though.
